Use the asset finance calculator below to get a feel for what an asset might cost you each month across different terms and deposits. It is an illustration rather than a quote — the figures you are actually offered depend on the asset, the term, the deposit and your business’s circumstances. For a real number, send us the asset and we will come back with what the lenders on our panel will actually do.
What the calculator illustrates.
Lower monthly, VAT spread.
Defer capital, cut the monthly.
Payments matched to income.
More up front, better rate.
Matched to the asset’s life.
Put in the amount you need to fund, choose a term, and adjust the deposit. The monthly figure moves for reasons worth understanding rather than just watching: a longer term lowers the monthly payment but increases what you pay in total, and a larger deposit lowers both, because the lender is exposed to less.
It does not know what you are buying, and that matters more than most people expect. A machine that holds its value over a long working life funds differently from something specialised with a thin resale market, even at the same price. Nor does it know your trading history, your sector or your deposit position. Treat the output as a sense-check on affordability, not a quote.
Four things, roughly in order. The asset — how readily a lender could sell it if things went wrong. The term — longer terms usually carry a higher rate but a lower monthly cost. The deposit — more up front generally means a better rate and a wider choice of lenders. Your business — trading history, sector and existing commitments.
This is why nobody can give you a genuine rate over the phone before seeing what you are buying. Anyone who does is quoting a headline they may not honour once the asset is known.
The calculator illustrates hire purchase, where you are funding the full cost and own the asset at the end. A finance lease funds the depreciation instead, so the monthly figure is lower for the same asset, and VAT is typically spread across the rentals rather than paid up front. If cash flow rather than ownership is your constraint, the lease figure is the one worth seeing — ask us and we will show you both.
Deferring part of the capital to the end of the agreement brings the monthly figure down substantially, which is useful when an asset needs to earn before it pays for itself. The trade-off is a lump sum falling due at the end, so it works best where you know how it will be met — refinanced, settled from the asset’s sale, or covered by contracted income.
The asset with make, model and price, whether it is new or used and from a dealer or private sale, what deposit you have, and roughly how long you want to spread it. That is enough for us to tell you which lenders have appetite and what the terms genuinely look like. No credit check to ask.

Hire Purchase illustration at a representative 8.9% APR — a quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a representative 8.9% APR, you would repay around £617 a month; total amount repayable approximately £29,610. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances.
