Renewable energy finance works particularly well because the asset generates a measurable saving from the day it is switched on. Commercial solar finance, EV charger finance and heat pump funding can often be structured so the monthly repayment sits below the energy saving, which means the project improves cash flow rather than consuming it. Battery storage finance is arranged alongside solar where the two are installed together.
What you can fund
Solar PV
Roof and ground-mount commercial arrays.
Battery storage
Store and shift your own generation.
EV charging
Depot, workplace and destination chargers.
Heat pumps
Low-carbon heating for premises.
LED & efficiency
Lighting and energy-saving upgrades.
Voltage optimisation
Reduce consumption across the site.
Funding that pays for itself
Most assets cost money to run. Renewables do the opposite, which changes the conversation with a lender. Where the saving is well evidenced, renewable energy finance can be structured so repayments are covered by reduced energy bills across the term.
Solar panel finance
Solar panel finance covers roof and ground-mounted commercial arrays, inverters and installation. Because a system has a long working life and a predictable output, terms tend to be longer than general equipment finance, which keeps the monthly figure below the saving.
Commercial solar finance and battery storage
Commercial solar finance increasingly comes with battery storage, which lets you use what you generate rather than exporting it cheaply. Funding both together usually makes better financial sense than adding storage later as a separate agreement.
EV charger finance
EV charger finance funds workplace and destination charging — the units, the groundwork and the installation. For fleets converting to electric, charging infrastructure is often the piece that gets deferred; funding it removes that bottleneck.
What lenders assess on renewables
Renewable projects are assessed on the strength of the savings as much as the business. Lenders want to see a credible generation or efficiency estimate from a competent installer, MCS certification where relevant, and a realistic payback period. A well-evidenced proposal often funds on better terms than the same business would get for general equipment.
Roof ownership and site tenure
This is the question that stops more solar projects than cost. If you lease your premises, the lender will want to know that your tenure runs at least as long as the finance term, and that the landlord consents to the installation. Sort that before you commission a survey — it is the most common reason a funded solar project falls over.
Battery storage and export
Generation without storage means exporting cheaply what you could have used yourself. Battery storage improves the economics substantially for businesses whose demand does not match their generation curve, and funding both together is usually better value than retrofitting storage later as a separate agreement.
Wind, biomass and heat networks
Small-scale wind, biomass boilers and heat recovery all fund on the same principle: measurable savings over a long asset life. Agricultural and rural sites are frequently the best candidates, having the space, the demand and often the off-grid fuel costs that make payback quickest.
Heat pumps and biomass
Heat pump finance and biomass boiler funding suit rural and commercial premises replacing oil or LPG. The saving is usually larger and the payback shorter than for solar, particularly off the gas grid.
What to send us
Send us the installer’s quotation and generation estimate, and tell us whether you own or lease the roof. We will come back with whether the repayments can sit below the projected saving, and over what term. No credit check to ask.

Estimate your repayments
Hire Purchase illustration at a representative 8.9% APR — a quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a representative 8.9% APR, you would repay around £617 a month; total amount repayable approximately £29,610. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances.
