HGV finance and truck finance are their own discipline. A lorry is a high-value asset doing enormous mileage under an operator licence, which means lenders assess it differently from a van. We arrange truck finance, lorry finance and trailer funding across a panel of 60+ UK lenders, including several who specialise in road transport.

An HGV covers in a year what a van covers in three. It is worked harder, maintained to a stricter standard and replaced on a schedule driven by maintenance cost rather than fashion. Lenders who understand road transport price that properly; lenders who do not treat it as an oversized van and get the term wrong in both directions.
Whether it is a 7.5 tonne rigid, an 18-tonne curtainsider or a tractor unit pulling 44 tonnes, HGV truck finance works on hire purchase, finance lease or contract hire. Terms are typically longer than for vans because the vehicles hold value and stay in service longer.
Tipper finance, recovery truck finance and specialist bodywork — skip loaders, hook lifts, curtainsiders, refrigerated bodies, cranes and HIABs — all fund on the same basis. Because a body conversion adds cost that does not always add resale value, the right lender matters more here than on a standard chassis.
Trailer finance is often overlooked and is usually the easiest part of the fleet to fund. Trailers depreciate slowly, hold value well and are simple to identify and recover, which makes them strong security. Curtainsiders, flatbeds, tippers, tankers and box trailers all qualify.
Between van and lorry sits a whole class of working vehicles. Pickup truck finance covers double-cab 4x4s used across construction, agriculture and utilities. Luton van finance funds box-bodied vehicles for removals and distribution. Both fund readily and often on van-style terms rather than HGV terms.
A new haulier faces the same problem as any new business, with an added complication: the O-licence requires evidence of financial standing. Funding the vehicle rather than buying it outright preserves the reserves that the licence assessment looks for. Tell us where you are with the licence and we will factor it in.
Most transport businesses run a mix — tractor units, rigids, trailers, vans and a pickup or two. Commercial vehicle finance in the UK works better as one facility across the fleet than as a dozen agreements with different end dates. If you are re-fleeting, send the whole list.
