Laser and IPL systems are among the few assets in this sector with real resale value, which changes how funders look at the deal.

Can you finance a laser hair removal machine?

Yes. A laser or IPL system is one of the stronger assets in the beauty sector because it has an identifiable make, model and serial number and a genuine second-hand market, which gives funders something to hold. Hire purchase is the usual structure. Used devices are fundable, though funders prefer purchases from authorised dealers who can confirm service history and handpiece condition. The catch is everything around the device: training, consumables and warranty packages often make up a large slice of the invoice, and funders will fund the machine far more readily than the wrap-around costs.

Used kit: Yes, used systems are fundable where an authorised dealer supplies them with service history and the serial number is recorded on the agreement.

What would a laser hair removal machine cost per month?

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.

Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. How lenders treat it

Most of this sector is soft asset territory, but aesthetic devices are the exception worth understanding. A named platform with a serial number, service records and an active dealer network can be identified, recovered and resold, so funders treat it more like equipment and less like furniture. That widens the pool compared with couches and chairs. It does not remove the covenant test: expect trading history, bank statement review and a personal guarantee. Two practical points. Devices bought grey-market or imported without UK service support are much harder to place, because the funder cannot see a resale route. And the non-asset elements — training days, consumable bundles, marketing support — carry no recovery value, so a quotation weighted towards those will be scrutinised more closely than one weighted towards hardware.

Who buys one

Commonly an established beauty clinic adding a treatment line because clients keep asking, or an aesthetics practitioner setting up a dedicated clinic room. Existing operators upgrading from an older platform to a current one are the other frequent case, usually prompted by service costs rising or a supplier withdrawing support for a discontinued model. Multi-site clinic groups adding capacity at a second location come up regularly as well.

How it is treated for tax

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.

Laser hair removal machine finance questions

Can training be included in the finance?

Sometimes, where the supplier invoices it as part of a single package. Funders distinguish between the machine, which they could recover, and services, which they could not. A package where training is a modest part of the total is usually fine. Where it dominates the invoice, expect the funder to ask for a breakdown.

Do I need to be registered with a regulator?

Requirements differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and can also depend on local authority licensing, so check with your own council and insurer. Funders do not assess clinical matters, but they will expect a clinic to be operating lawfully and appropriately insured, and some ask to see the relevant registration.

Why is the serial number so important?

Because it is what makes the device recoverable. A funder retaining title needs to identify the exact unit financed, particularly where a clinic runs several platforms. Serial numbers appear on the agreement schedule and are checked against the supplier invoice, so make sure the two match before signing anything.

Can I finance a device bought from abroad?

It is much harder. Without a UK dealer, service contract or warranty support, a funder has no clear route to resell a recovered unit, and the delivery and title position is less certain. Some funders decline imports outright. Buying through a UK distributor generally produces a far better outcome.

Is a new clinic likely to be approved?

It depends heavily on the director. A practitioner with years of experience, strong personal credit and a signed lease can sometimes place a device even with a new company, because the machine itself carries value. A first-time operator with no experience and no accounts will find it very difficult.
