Yes. Construction plant is one of the most widely funded asset classes in the UK because machines carry serial numbers, hold resale value and have an established second-hand market. Excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, crushers and attachments can all be considered, whether bought new from a dealer or used at auction. Approval always rests with the lender.
CW Asset Finance is an independent credit broker with a panel of 60+ lenders, and we work with contractors across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the wider UK. Because plant funders differ in what they like, one may be comfortable with an older machine while another will only look at recent stock — having a choice of funders matters more here than in most asset classes.
The main things a lender will weigh up are the age and hours on the machine, who is selling it, how specialised it is, and your trading and payment history. Auction and private-sale purchases are possible but usually need more evidence and a tighter inspection, and some funders will not touch them at all.
Remember the machine is the lender’s security. If you fall behind on payments it can be repossessed, which may leave you without the equipment you rely on to trade and can affect your credit file. Only commit to payments your workload can realistically support through quieter months.
