Tippers work hard in punishing conditions, so funders judge them on the body build and the operator behind the wheel as much as on the chassis.

Yes. A tipper truck is funded as a complete commercial vehicle, with the chassis and the tipping body usually invoiced separately by the dealer and the bodybuilder. Used tippers fund well because muck-away and aggregate demand keeps second-hand values firm. The issue that catches buyers is condition assessment: tippers lead a harder life than any other rigid, and funders will look at body wear, ram and tipping gear condition, and chassis corrosion more critically than they would on a curtainsider. A well-known body brand makes a noticeable difference to how the deal is received.
Used kit: Yes — used tippers fund readily, typically up to around eight to ten years old, with body and ram condition mattering more than chassis mileage.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Tipper resale is deep but regional — construction activity drives it, so funders watch the sector cycle closely. The body is a real underwriting factor: a Thompson, Wilcox or Charlton steel or aluminium body carries recognised residual value, while an unbranded or repaired body does not. Funders also separate owner-drivers from established firms sharply here, because tipper work attracts new entrants with one truck and one customer. An owner-driver is underwritten on personal credit, homeowner status and who they haul for; a fleet is read from accounts and disc authorisation. Declines cluster around new-start operators with no O-licence, no site contract and a privately bought truck with no service record.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Muck-away hauliers, groundworks contractors and aggregate suppliers. The usual trigger is a site contract that requires a set number of loads a day, or an operator who has been hiring in tippers at day rate and has worked out that owning is cheaper over a season. Owner-drivers pulling for a larger tipper firm are a big part of this market.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Yes, and it happens constantly, but expect personal underwriting. Funders will look at your credit file, whether you own your home, how long you have driven tippers, and who you will be hauling for. A named haulier or site contract behind the application makes a significant difference to which funders will engage and on what basis.
Often yes. Dealers sell the chassis cab and a bodybuilder fits the tipping gear, producing two invoices. Funders can put both on one agreement where the timings line up, or stage the payment — chassis on delivery, body on completion. Tell us the build schedule early and it is a non-event; leave it late and it delays drawdown.
It matters for residual value, which feeds into the deal. Aluminium bodies from recognised builders are lighter, carry more payload per trip and hold value well. Steel bodies suit heavy demolition and stone work where abrasion would destroy aluminium. Funders are comfortable with either from a known manufacturer; unbranded or heavily repaired bodies are the problem.
Typically up to around eight to ten years, though it is condition-led rather than age-led. A well-maintained ten year old 8x4 with a good body and clean test history will often fund where a neglected six year old will not. Funders inspect or value the vehicle where the age is at the edge of appetite.
Yes — a tipper grab is a common combined spec and funds as one vehicle, though the crane element is assessed separately as equipment. Funders check the crane make, its inspection record and who installed it. Combined tipper grabs have strong resale in muck-away work, which generally helps rather than hinders the application.
