Yes. Haulers are funded as marine deck equipment, usually alongside the vessel or as a standalone purchase when a boat is being re-rigged for a different fishery. New hydraulic units from established manufacturers place most easily, and used haulers are fundable where they come from a known supplier with a service record. The practical issue is that a hauler is only useful bolted to a specific boat with a matching hydraulic supply, so the funder records the vessel on the agreement and the second-hand market for the unit alone is small.
Used kit: Yes — used haulers fund where the supplier and service history are known, though small unit values mean some funders set a practical minimum.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Deck equipment is a small ticket item in a specialist sector, which means the funder matters more than the number. A marine or agricultural equipment funder used to working boats will understand a hauler; a general lender will not know what it is looking at. Expect the vessel to be identified on the agreement, because once the hauler is plumbed into the boat’s hydraulics it is effectively part of that vessel, and expect the funder to ask whether the boat itself carries existing marine finance. Resale is thin: a hauler sells to another inshore skipper in the same region, which is a small pool, so the security is valued modestly and the trading income carries the case.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Inshore skippers working pots for crab and lobster, creel fishermen on the Scottish coast, small netters, and aquaculture crews hauling mooring lines and nets. The trigger is usually a change of fishery, a move to heavier gear that the existing hauler cannot manage, or a hydraulic failure mid-season that stops the boat earning. Purchases are frequently made in the closed weeks before a season starts, with the unit fitted by a local marine engineer.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Yes, that is a common case when re-rigging an owned vessel. The unit is funded in its own right with the boat identified on the agreement. The application is assessed on the fishing business and the landings rather than on the equipment alone. A fitting invoice from the marine engineer completes the file neatly.
It can, and often should. A hauler is useless without a supply of the right pressure and flow, so where the boat needs a new power pack it makes sense to fund both together on one agreement with the fitting included. Sizing the pack to the hauler avoids the pressure problems that cause early failures.
It can be, though small values mean some funders set a practical floor. Good used gear from a recognised maker with a service history is fundable. Unidentifiable units bought off a quay are not, because the funder cannot value or verify them. A dated invoice and a legible maker plate are usually enough to make a used unit workable.
Almost certainly. Deck equipment is funded on the fishing business behind it, so the licence, the fishery you work and recent landings all form part of the picture. A hauler for a fishery you are not licensed to work is a difficult conversation. Tell us which fishery you are moving into so the right funder is approached first.
Yes, and haulers are widely used on fish farm service boats for moorings and nets. The underwrite then rests on the aquaculture business and its servicing contracts rather than on landings, which is a different case but a perfectly fundable one. Mooring inspection and net changing schedules help show how the unit will be worked.
