Sawing is the first operation on most jobs and the one most shops under-invest in until the saw becomes the bottleneck.

Yes. Metal cutting bandsaws are funded as equipment, usually on hire purchase, and used saws are fundable because they are mechanically simple and last a long time. The practical issue is deal size. A basic manual saw is often below what a funder will write, whereas a fully automatic CNC bundle saw with a feed table is a proper asset and funds easily on its own. Blades are consumables and never form part of the advance, so factor blade cost into your running budget rather than the purchase.
Used kit: Yes — used bandsaws fund readily and can be well over a decade old, with blade guides, drive and feed condition counting more than age.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Funders regard bandsaws as easy, low-drama assets. Recognised makes have a continuous used market, the engineering is durable, and a dealer will take one without much persuading. Because the machines are largely mechanical, control obsolescence is a smaller factor than on other machine tools, though on automatic saws the control and feed system support status still shapes value. Blades, blade brushes and coolant are consumables and excluded. Funders see sawing capacity as general-purpose, serving every corner of engineering, which spreads sector risk in a way that a specialist machine does not. The usual reason a saw proposal does not proceed is that the amount involved is below a funder’s minimum, or the applicant’s credit position rules it out.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Machine shops cutting bar to length for turning, fabricators cutting section, steel stockholders providing a cut-to-size service, and maintenance workshops. The trigger is usually a saw that cannot keep up with the machines behind it, or a move to a material such as stainless or Inconel that the existing saw struggles with, producing crooked cuts, short blade life and a surprising amount of wasted bar.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
A basic manual machine usually is, for most funders. An automatic or CNC saw with roller feed tables is a different matter and funds comfortably as a standalone asset. Where you are buying a saw alongside other machines, it fits into the same agreement without any difficulty at all.
When supplied with the saw on the same invoice, usually yes, because they are identifiable equipment. Bought separately from another supplier they become a small standalone item, best added to a larger facility. Bundle handling is often what makes the saw worth having, so it is worth quoting as one package.
No. Blades are consumables, in the same category as cutting inserts or laser gas, and a funder cannot advance against something that will be worn out within a few months of running. Build blade cost into your cutting rate instead. The saw itself, the feed system and any handling equipment supplied with it are the elements available to fund.
Yes, and those are genuinely good propositions. Large automatic bundle saws are substantial, identifiable machines with a clear used market, and stockholding businesses usually have the balance sheet to support them. The underwriting is a standard hard-asset assessment based on the machine and your accounts.
Smaller agreements are often decided within hours and documented the same day, particularly where the proposal is settled on a credit search and bank conduct rather than a full review of your accounts. In practice the constraint is nearly always the supplier’s stock availability and delivery slot rather than anything on the funding side.
