Funeral limousine finance
The limousine behind the hearse carries the family, and for most funeral directors it is the vehicle that gets the closest inspection from clients.

Can you finance a funeral limousine?
Funeral limousine finance funds the stretched mourners cars used to carry families in a cortege. These are coachbuilt vehicles, lengthened from a production saloon and fitted with extra rows of seating, so they sit outside conventional car finance in the same way a hearse does. Funders who specialise in the sector will consider both new builds and used vehicles, judging them on body condition, seating and coachbuilder rather than registration year. Limousines are often bought alongside a hearse so the cortege matches in colour and marque.
Used kit: Yes — used limousines are financed regularly, with interior condition and the state of the stretch section mattering far more than how many years the car has been on the road.

What would a funeral limousine cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. How lenders treat it
Underwriters treat limousines as a close cousin of the hearse but with one extra wrinkle: passenger carrying. A stretched car with additional seating raises questions about certification, and funders want to see that the conversion was carried out properly by a recognised coachbuilder rather than an unknown workshop. Beyond that, the same logic applies. Mainstream motor lenders will not touch the asset because they cannot value or dispose of it. Specialists will, because they understand that these vehicles do low annual mileage, are garaged and cleaned obsessively, and change hands within a small but active professional market. The narrow buyer pool keeps advances conservative. The offsetting factor is the customer: funeral firms are usually long-trading, cash-generative and unusually resilient, which is exactly the profile a cautious underwriter wants behind an unusual asset.

Who buys one
Commonly a funeral business whose existing limousine no longer matches the hearse after a replacement, or one finding that a single car cannot cover larger families and busier weeks. Firms serving communities where large funerals are the norm often run two or three, and add capacity as demand builds.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Funeral limousine finance questions
Can a limousine and hearse be funded on one agreement?
Often yes, and buying them together is common because the cortege needs to match. Whether they sit on one agreement or two depends on the funder and on whether the vehicles are coming from the same supplier at the same time.
Does the number of doors affect the funding?
Not directly, though it affects value. Six and seven door configurations are the working standard and have the widest demand within the profession. An unusual configuration narrows the resale audience, which a funder will reflect in its assessment.
How important is the coachbuilder name?
Very. A car built by an established British coachbuilder has documented build quality and a known resale audience. An unbranded or amateur stretch is difficult for a funder to value and may be declined outright, regardless of how it looks on the forecourt.
Do limousines hold value better than ordinary cars?
They depreciate differently rather than better. The base car loses value conventionally, but the conversion has a long useful life, so the vehicle plateaus and then holds for years provided the body and interior are kept right.
Can these vehicles be used for weddings as well?
Some firms do use them for other private hire work, but tell the funder if you intend to. Usage affects mileage and wear, and a vehicle working weekends year-round is a different proposition from one used solely for funerals.
