Five or six seats behind a bulkhead with the load space still intact — crew vans funded for gangs who travel together and work together.

Yes. Crew cab vans and kombis are funded as commercial vehicles, normally on hire purchase in the business name, and used examples place without difficulty. The point that catches people out is not lending, it is tax and classification. A van with a second row of seats can, depending on specification, be treated differently by HMRC to a plain panel van, and the line between a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle is not always where owners assume. That affects both benefit in kind and the capital allowance position, so it is worth a conversation with your accountant before you order.
Used kit: Yes. Used crew cabs fund well, with factory-built versions valued more confidently than vans converted after registration.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Crew vans are easy to place on the asset side — demand second-hand is strong, especially factory-built kombis, which hold value better than aftermarket seat conversions. That distinction matters: a factory crew cab from Ford or Volkswagen is a known quantity, whereas a panel van someone has retro-fitted with a second row needs evidence the conversion was done to standard, with proper belt anchorages and certification. Funders will ask. On the credit side, the sectors that buy crew vans are construction and utilities, so lenders look for visible contract income and are alert to applicants whose van is really a family vehicle wearing a business name. Declines come from uncertified seat conversions, applicants with no trading evidence, and vehicles specified so far towards passenger use that the funder queries whether it is a commercial at all.

Groundworks and civils gangs who travel to site as a team, roofing crews, utilities and telecoms contractors, and window and door installers who need two fitters plus glass in the same vehicle. Also popular with businesses that want one vehicle to do double duty during the week and at weekends. The usual trigger is paying two sets of fuel and parking because a two-man job needs two vehicles.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Usually, but not automatically. Classification depends on payload and how the vehicle is built and used, and some crew vans sit close to the boundary. The difference affects benefit in kind and capital allowances, so confirm the position with your accountant before you commit to a specification.
Yes, provided the conversion is properly documented. Lenders want evidence that the seats and belt anchorages were fitted to standard by a converter, not bolted in by a previous owner. An uncertified conversion is a valuation problem and, more importantly, a safety and insurance one.
Factory-built ones do well, because there is steady demand from trades who need seats and load space in one vehicle. Aftermarket conversions are patchier. Specification helps — air conditioning, a proper bulkhead and a sensible colour all widen the pool of second-hand buyers.
Many owners do, but be careful: if private use is more than incidental it can change the tax treatment and the insurance you need. It can also raise a query with the funder about whether the vehicle is genuinely a business asset. Be straight about the intended use.
It depends on whether your team travels together. One crew van saves fuel, parking and duplicated finance, but it ties two people to one vehicle. If your fitters routinely split to separate jobs, two smaller vans give flexibility that a crew cab cannot.
