Accessories can add up to a significant sum, and whether they can be financed usually comes down to one thing: whose invoice they appear on.

Usually only as part of the caravan purchase. Asset finance is advanced against an identifiable asset with resale value, and an awning or a motor mover on its own is rarely enough to support a standalone agreement. Where extras are supplied and fitted by the selling dealer and listed on the same invoice as the caravan, they are normally included in the total being funded without difficulty. Items bought separately afterwards cannot usually be added to an agreement already in place. Businesses buying accessories as equipment may have other options on unregulated terms.
Used kit: Rarely — second hand accessories are seldom funded on their own, though extras already fitted to a used van form part of what is being financed.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
The mechanics matter more than most buyers realise. When a funder writes an agreement it is against a specific asset, identified by its CRiS number and described on the invoice. Anything on that invoice at the time forms part of the funded asset; anything added later does not, and there is no mechanism to bolt extras onto a live agreement. That is why the practical advice is always to decide on accessories before the paperwork is drawn up. There is a second point about value: awnings, movers and solar improve the enjoyment of a van far more than they improve its resale figure, so a funder will be assessing whether the total sits sensibly against what the outfit is worth. For a business buying accessories as part of a wider equipment purchase, unregulated business finance offers more flexibility than consumer credit does.

Almost every caravan buyer, since very few vans leave a dealer without at least a motor mover and an awning. Most commonly a family specifying a van at a show and adding solar, a tracker, an alarm and an awning to the order. Also existing owners who want to kit out a van bought a season earlier and discover the timing has made that harder.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
No, in almost all cases. The agreement is already drawn against a described asset and funders do not vary live agreements to add items. If you know you want the extras, get them onto the supplying invoice before signing. Otherwise they need funding another way or buying outright.
Less than they cost. A motor mover and a good awning make a van easier to sell, but they rarely add their purchase value to the resale figure. Funders are conscious of this, so a van loaded with accessories may be assessed closer to its base value than the total invoice suggests.
Sometimes, where they form part of a broader equipment purchase and the agreement is unregulated business finance. A holiday park buying awnings, decking and outdoor furniture for a fleet is a different proposition from an individual buying one awning. Tell us the full picture and we will say what is realistic.
They are usually included with the van in the same way as other dealer fitted items, and funders positively like them because security devices reduce theft risk on an asset they hold title to. Your insurer may also require one, so it is worth specifying security at the point of order rather than later.
If fitted by the supplying dealer and invoiced with the caravan, generally yes. Fitted retrospectively by a third party, no — it becomes an accessory purchase rather than part of the asset. Off grid equipment is increasingly popular, so raise it when you specify the van rather than after delivery.
