Touring caravans are among the simplest leisure assets to fund, provided the purchase is from a dealer and the towing weights genuinely work.

Yes. Touring caravans are a well established funding market. UK built vans from Bailey, Swift, Coachman and Elddis are produced in volume, listed in trade guides and traded constantly, so an underwriter has reliable data to work from. A family buying a van for holidays is entering a regulated consumer credit agreement, with the protections that brings. A business buying one — site accommodation for workers, a rental unit or a show vehicle — is on unregulated business terms. The two practical complications are buying privately rather than from a dealer, and matching the van to a legal towing weight.
Used kit: Yes — used tourers are funded every day, and vans fifteen years old or more are placed where the damp record and CRiS registration are clean.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Two things sit behind almost every caravan case. The first is who you are buying from. Dealer purchases are simple, because the funder pays a VAT registered business with a trading history. A private purchase removes a good share of funders and brings in checks on the seller, the chassis number and whether any finance is outstanding. The second is the CRiS record. UK touring caravans carry a unique identification number registered on the CRiS database, and funders use it to confirm identity and ownership. A van with no CRiS registration, a missing chassis plate or a record that does not match the seller is a serious warning sign. Whether the agreement is regulated turns on use — private holidays are consumer credit, business use is not — and it also determines how the affordability assessment is carried out.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Families who want holidays without hotel costs, and retired couples who tour for weeks at a time in shoulder season. A large share of buyers are moving up from a first small van after a season or two, or coming back to caravanning after the children have left home. The trigger is frequently the spring shows in February, where most of the year’s buying decisions are made.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
CRiS is the central register for UK touring caravans, recording a unique identification number against the van and its keeper. Funders use it to confirm the caravan is what the seller says it is and that it is not stolen or already financed. A van with no CRiS record, or a record that does not match, will usually stop an application.
Not the finance decision directly, but it should affect your choice of van. Towing limits depend on your vehicle’s capability and on the categories your driving licence carries, which in turn depend on when it was issued. Check both before you commit — a caravan you cannot legally or safely tow is no use whatever the funding looks like.
Usually yes, where the extras are on the supplying dealer’s invoice and fitted before handover. Items purchased separately afterwards cannot normally be added to an agreement that has already been drawn against a specified asset. Decide on accessories before the paperwork is issued if you want them included.
Very. Damp is what destroys caravan values, and a current damp report from a habitation service is the clearest evidence the structure is sound. On used vans, particularly private sales, funders may ask to see one. Even where they do not, you should want one for your own protection before handing money over.
Yes, where there is genuine business use such as on site accommodation, rental or exhibition work. That makes it unregulated business finance rather than consumer credit, usually widening the panel. Your accountant should advise on the tax treatment, particularly if there is any element of private use alongside the business purpose.
