Wheel loader finance
Loading shovels are bought to move volume, and the funder’s first question is always what you are moving — aggregate, waste or soil changes the machine’s life expectancy.

Can you finance a wheel loader?
Yes. Wheel loaders are funded as hard assets on hire purchase or lease, new or used, and the major marques resell across construction, quarrying, agriculture and waste, which gives funders real comfort. Where a loading shovel differs from an excavator is that the application drives the risk. A machine loading blasted rock or working in a waste transfer station wears out far faster than one handling topsoil, and funders with quarry experience price and structure for that. Be straight about the application when you apply. An undisclosed recycling or quarry duty discovered at end-of-term inspection causes far more trouble than declaring it at the outset.
Used kit: Yes. Used shovels fund well, though funders look hard at tyres, transmission and linkage wear once a machine is past around seven or eight years.

What would a wheel loader cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. How lenders treat it
Loading shovels sit in the hard asset bracket with strong export demand, so CAT, Volvo, Komatsu, JCB and Hitachi machines have a reliable floor value even when UK demand dips. The complication is duty cycle. Funders who know the sector separate construction duty from quarry and waste duty, because the latter destroys tyres, pins, bushes and linkage far quicker and residual assumptions have to reflect it. Expect a quarry or recycling application to be routed to an independent with heavy plant experience rather than a general lessor. Declines usually come from a mismatch: a small business buying a large shovel with no evidence of the throughput to justify it, or a waste operator without a settled environmental permit. Established operators with weighbridge figures and a permit in place get a straightforward hearing.

Who buys one
Quarry and aggregate operators, waste and recycling transfer stations, muck-away and soil recycling firms, and larger groundworks contractors running their own stone yard. The trigger is usually throughput — a second weighbridge, a new permit, or an incoming contract that needs a bigger bucket to keep the wagons moving. Concrete and asphalt plants buy them to feed hoppers and they rarely stop.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Wheel loader finance questions
Does working in a quarry affect whether I can finance a loader?
It affects who funds it rather than whether it can be funded. Quarry duty is harsh on a machine and funders with heavy plant experience allow for it in their residual assumptions. A general lessor may be less comfortable. Declaring the application at the start routes the deal to the right desk immediately.
Can I fund a loading shovel for a waste transfer station?
Yes, and waste operators are funded regularly, but the environmental permit matters. Funders want to see that the site is properly permitted and settled, because a shovel in a waste stream depends on the site continuing to operate. Machines in waste are often specified with solid tyres and guarding, which is worth funding at the same time.
Are solid tyres worth including in the agreement?
In waste and demolition applications, usually yes. Solid or foam-filled tyres cost more up front but remove puncture downtime entirely, and because they are fitted at supply they can be itemised on the invoice and included. On soft ground or aggregate work conventional tyres are normally the better choice.
Can I part exchange two smaller machines against one loader?
Yes. Multiple part exchanges are common when a business consolidates. The combined allowance becomes your contribution, which strengthens the application. If either outgoing machine is still on finance we will obtain settlement figures and handle the repayment as part of the transaction so nothing is left outstanding.
How does refinancing a loading shovel work?
You own the machine outright, the funder values it, takes title and advances you an agreed sum which you repay over an agreed profile. It suits businesses with capital tied up in older plant that needs to become cash. Condition and hours drive the amount available, so provide a current service record.
