Wi-Fi infrastructure finance
Cover access points, controllers, licensing and the survey work behind a wireless rollout in one agreement rather than several invoices.

Can you finance wi-Fi infrastructure?
Yes. Wireless projects are funded regularly, typically on lease or hire purchase against the business. Access points are small, licensed, frequently cloud-managed and mounted in ceilings, so recovery value is close to nil once you account for the cost of taking them down. Used access points are rarely funded, partly because licensing does not transfer cleanly. What often gets missed is the proportion of the quote that is not hardware at all: predictive and on-site surveys, cabling to each mounting point, power over Ethernet upgrades and configuration often outweigh the access points themselves.
Used kit: Rarely. Second-hand access points are cheap and widely available, but licence entitlement often will not transfer and the recovery value is negligible, so funders see no security worth documenting.

What would wi-Fi infrastructure cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
How lenders treat it
Wireless is a soft asset with a service bill attached, and I underwrite it accordingly. Individually the access points are low value, the licensing that makes them manageable expires, and nobody profitably removes ceiling-mounted units from a site. In practice a large share of what I am funding is survey work, installation labour and cabling, none of which exists as an asset afterwards. So I lend on the business. Hospitality and education applicants are common here and I look at them on their own terms — seasonal trading in a holiday park is normal, not a red flag, provided the pattern is visible in the figures. What I want is a project sized sensibly against revenue.
Makes and models we fund
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Who buys one
Hotels and holiday parks where guest reviews mention the Wi-Fi, warehouses running handheld scanners that drop connection between aisles, schools supporting device programmes across a whole year group, and offices where hybrid working has quadrupled the number of devices per desk. Manufacturers deploying connected machinery on the floor come to us too, as do care homes and venues where coverage has become a service expectation rather than a nice extra.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Wi-Fi infrastructure finance questions
Can the wireless survey be included in the finance?
Usually yes, as part of the overall project cost. Predictive design and on-site validation surveys are normal line items on a wireless quote and funders accept them. They carry no recovery value, so a survey-heavy proposal is assessed against your accounts, but nobody expects wireless to be deployed without one.
Our site is a warehouse with racking. Does that change anything?
It changes the engineering rather than the finance. Racking absorbs and reflects signal, so warehouse deployments need more access points and careful placement, which raises the cost. Funders see these projects often, particularly where handheld scanning depends on coverage, and treat them as ordinary business technology applications.
We are a hotel. Is guest Wi-Fi fundable?
Yes, and it is a regular request. Guest wireless is now close to a core service in hospitality, and an underwriter reading a project driven by guest expectations understands the commercial logic. Expect questions about occupancy and trading patterns; seasonality is fine as long as the accounts show the business manages it.
Do we need to finance a controller as well as the access points?
It depends on the platform. Some systems use a physical controller or gateway, others manage everything from a cloud subscription. Either can be included. The cloud model means part of what you are funding is a licence rather than hardware, which pushes the application further onto your covenant.
How does power over Ethernet affect the project cost?
Access points draw power down the data cable, so the switches feeding them must support it and have enough power budget. Older switching often does not, which means the wireless project quietly becomes a switching project too. Flag it early and we can build one application covering both rather than going back twice.
