Funding vehicles that earn their keep, where the underwriting question is not just the asset but the booking season behind it.

Yes. A motorhome bought to hire out is a business asset, so the agreement is unregulated business finance rather than regulated consumer credit, and a different panel of funders applies. Underwriters look at two things: the vehicle itself, which is easy to value, and the business behind it — booking history or projections, insurance arranged for hire and reward, storage, and how the fleet is maintained and turned round between customers. Operators adding to an established fleet usually find it straightforward. A first vehicle is harder and depends heavily on the evidence you can show.
Used kit: Yes — used vehicles are common in hire fleets because they take the depreciation hit before entering service, and funders will consider them on condition and history.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Hire use changes the picture in ways owners do not always expect. Insurance is the first hurdle: standard leisure policies exclude hire and reward, and a funder will want sight of the correct cover before releasing money. Mileage and wear are higher than private use, so funders think harder about condition at the end of the agreement. Because this is business finance and not regulated consumer credit, there is more structural flexibility, and seasonal profiles that reflect a summer heavy income pattern can sometimes be arranged. Funders will ask about your booking platform, your deposit and damage policy, off season storage and whether the vehicles are maintained under contract. Newer operators should expect to evidence demand; established ones with filed accounts and a booking record generally have the easier route.

Sometimes an established hire operator replacing older stock before the spring booking rush. More often a newer entrant — somebody who has hired their own van out through a peer to peer platform for a season, seen the demand, and wants two or three more. Farm diversification and holiday park owners adding vans to an existing visitor business are a steady source of enquiries too.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
It is possible but harder. Funders want evidence the demand is real — booking enquiries, a platform account with reviews, a marketing plan, or experience in a related tourism business. A personal guarantee is commonly requested from newer operators. Coming to the conversation with figures rather than intentions makes a material difference.
Yes, significantly. Hire and reward cover is a specialist product and it is not included in an ordinary leisure vehicle policy. Funders will ask to see the schedule and will usually want to be noted on the policy. Arrange the insurance quote alongside the finance enquiry rather than leaving it until the vehicle is ready to collect.
Because this is unregulated business finance there is more flexibility than on a consumer agreement, and profiles that reflect a seasonal income pattern are sometimes available. Whether a particular funder will offer it depends on the strength of the business and the asset. It is worth raising at the outset, as it cannot usually be changed later.
Most operators work on a rolling replacement, settling agreements as vehicles are sold on and funding the next intake. Keeping good service and damage records throughout makes the resale stronger, which in turn makes the next round of funding easier. Plan replacements around the quiet months rather than mid season.
Not in itself, and platform booking history can actually help by evidencing real demand. What matters is that the cover, the vehicle condition and the record keeping are all proper. Funders are wary where hire is being run informally with consumer insurance in place, so get the arrangements right before applying.
