Can you finance an industrial telehandler?
Yes, and telehandlers are among the strongest assets in this whole category. They are high-value, serialised machines with an exceptionally deep UK used market spanning construction, agriculture, waste and industry, so funders compete for the business. Hire purchase is the usual route and used machines fund easily. The thing to be aware of is that attachments are where the money quietly goes — forks, buckets, jibs and man baskets are often invoiced separately and need to be on the agreement if you want them funded.
Used kit: Yes — used telehandlers are funded extremely readily and machines well past ten years old still find funders where hours and condition are good.

What would an industrial telehandler cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. How lenders treat it
As good as it gets in warehouse-adjacent equipment. Telehandlers hold value strongly, export well and are understood by every asset funder in the market, which means real competition on terms. Industrial variants with a side-shift carriage and solid tyres live an easier life than construction machines on muck-away work, and a funder pricing residuals cares about that distinction, so describe the application. Hours and condition drive value more than age at the older end. Two practical points: make sure attachments appear on the invoice with their own descriptions, and be clear whether the machine is rated for lifting persons, because a man-basket specification brings its own inspection obligations and affects how the machine is valued and insured.

Who buys one
Builders merchants, precast concrete yards, steel stockholders, recycling sites and larger manufacturers loading lorries in the open. The trigger is commonly the realisation that a counterbalance forklift cannot reach over an obstacle or onto the far side of a flatbed, or that the site is running a telehandler on long-term hire at a cost that has drifted past what buying one would have taken.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Industrial telehandler finance questions
Should attachments go on the same agreement as the telehandler?
Yes, wherever possible. Buckets, jibs, extension forks and rotating carriages are valuable and identifiable, and funding them with the machine means one payment and a complete asset record. Adding them later is possible but means a second agreement or a supplementary schedule, which is more work for a smaller amount.
Is a telehandler treated as construction plant or warehouse equipment?
Funders look at the machine, not the label. A telehandler is classed as plant either way, and the underwriting is the same. What changes is the residual assumption: a machine working a clean concrete yard at a merchants will be in better shape in five years than one on a demolition site, and a funder factors that in.
Can I finance a telehandler bought from a hire company disposal?
Yes, this is common. Ex-hire machines are well maintained and usually come with a service record, which funders like. They will have high hours for their age, so expect the valuation to reflect that. A clear invoice from the hire company and confirmation of clean title are the practical requirements.
Does a telehandler need a thorough examination?
Yes, as lifting equipment it falls under LOLER, and more frequently if it is used to lift people. Keeping the reports current protects the value of the machine as well as keeping you legal. A used telehandler with a complete examination history is materially easier to sell and to fund.
Can the machine work across two of our sites?
Yes. Mobile plant is expected to move, and that mobility is exactly why funders like it. Let the funder know the principal location for their records and make sure your insurance covers the machine at every site and in transit between them, including on the road if it travels under its own power.
