Funding for new and used combine harvesters and headers, structured so the machine is paid for out of the harvest it actually brings in.

Yes. Combines are funded routinely, normally on hire purchase, and this is the one farm asset where annual or harvest-linked repayments genuinely make sense rather than being a sales line. A combine earns its money in a few weeks, so many agricultural funders will schedule repayments to land after grain is sold instead of every month. Used combines are well supported. The thing that catches people out is the header: a combine is often advertised with a header but invoiced without one, or with a header the previous owner is keeping, so confirm exactly what is on the invoice before anything is signed.
Used kit: Yes, including machines several seasons old where separator hours are reasonable

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Combines are high value and seasonal, so lenders underwrite the farm harder than they do for a tractor. The buyer pool for a used combine is narrow and geographically concentrated, which makes resale slower, and funders know they cannot shift a recovered machine quickly outside the autumn. They will look at drum or separator hours alongside engine hours, because the ratio tells them how hard the machine worked rather than how far it travelled. Mainstream marques with dealer support retain value best. Expect questions about acreage, cropping and whether contract work supports the payment. Harvest-linked or seasonally weighted repayment profiles are standard here and specialist agricultural funders are far more comfortable offering them than general plant lenders.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Arable farms replacing a machine that is costing too much in breakdowns during the only fortnight it matters, farms moving up a class because acreage has grown through a contract farming agreement or a new tenancy, and harvest contractors running several machines. The trigger is almost always a bad experience the previous August: a gearbox, a rotor or a fire that stopped work while the weather was right.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Often yes. Specialist agricultural funders will write annual or seasonally weighted repayments on combines because they understand the income only arrives once. You may also be able to take a lighter first period before the first harvest. Not every funder offers it, which is a large part of why it is worth going through a broker rather than straight to the dealer desk.
It can and it should. Headers, header trailers and chaff spreaders are all fundable alongside the combine as long as they are on the same invoice. Buying the header separately later usually means a small standalone agreement, which is more expensive and more hassle than including it at the outset.
There is no fixed cut-off. Funders look at separator or drum hours against engine hours and against age. A machine with modest separator hours and high engine hours has done a lot of roadwork, which is usually less punishing than a machine that has threshed hard every season. Full dealer service history changes the answer more than the number itself.
Yes. Signed contracts or a track record of invoiced harvest work is exactly what a funder wants to see, because it shows the machine is contracted to earn. Contractors are generally underwritten on the strength and spread of their customer base, so a broad list of farms carries more weight than one large customer.
Yes, though it needs organising in advance. Funders will support auction purchases but you need an approval in place before you bid, because auction houses want payment quickly and will not wait for underwriting. Tell us the sale date and lot in advance and the money can be ready.
