Fan ovens do the bulk of the baking and regeneration in a busy kitchen, and they are cheap enough that people pay cash when they should not.

Yes, although a single fan oven is often too small to fund on its own. Convection ovens are written as ordinary asset finance, usually hire purchase, and they are frequently bundled with the rest of a kitchen order so the facility reaches a size a funder will actually write. Used and ex-demo units from trade dealers are fundable. The point that surprises people is the minimum: most funders have a floor below which the paperwork costs more than the deal, so one countertop oven on its own may be declined while the same oven inside a wider equipment list goes through without comment.
Used kit: Yes, and ex-demonstration and trade-refurbished ovens are common on these agreements, though funders prefer them under about eight years old and bought from a dealer offering a warranty.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
A convection oven sits in the awkward middle of the asset spectrum. It is branded and serial numbered, so it is not pure soft kit, but the used market is flooded and recovery values are thin once you account for collection and refurbishment. That means funders lend against the trading business, not the oven, and the credit decision is driven by accounts, time trading and how the bank account is run. Hospitality carries a risk loading with most underwriters, and start-ups are difficult unless a guarantee is offered. Where a fan oven is part of a larger kitchen package including refrigeration and dishwash, the stronger assets in the list pull the whole facility along.

Cafes, bakeries, school and contract caterers, and pubs running a food offer from a small kitchen. The buyer is often the owner rather than a chef, and the purchase is triggered by volume: the existing oven can no longer turn out enough pastry, jacket potatoes or baguettes between eleven and two. Multi-site operators buy them in batches when they standardise kit across shops so staff can move between sites without retraining.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Often not. Most funders set a minimum facility size because underwriting, documentation and payout cost the same whatever the ticket. The usual answer is to put the oven onto one agreement alongside the fridge, the dishwasher or the prep counters you are buying at the same time, which gets you over the threshold and gives you one payment rather than several.
Yes. Trade dealers are the normal route for refurbished ovens and funders deal with them routinely. What matters is that the dealer is a genuine VAT-registered business that can raise a proper invoice, offer a warranty and confirm the serial number. Private sales from another restaurant are much harder because there is no recourse if the oven fails.
Not to the credit decision, but it can affect what else lands on the invoice. Gas ovens usually bring a gas safety interlock and commissioning by a registered engineer, which is labour and may be excluded. Electric ovens can trigger a supply upgrade if the board is already loaded, and that electrical work is a building cost rather than equipment.
Yes, and it is the sensible way to do it. A proving cabinet on its own is small, soft and unappealing to a funder, but bolted to an oven purchase inside one schedule it goes through without a separate conversation. Put everything you are buying in the same month onto one invoice or one schedule where you can.
No. Almost every restaurant and cafe in the country trades from leased premises and funders expect it. What they will look at is how much of the lease term remains against the length of the agreement, because a facility running well past the end of your lease raises an obvious question. Having the option to renew helps.
