A traditional espresso machine is the most profitable square metre in any cafe, and one of the few purchases that repays itself in a handful of cups a day.

Yes, and it is one of the most common hospitality requests we see. Commercial espresso machines are funded as equipment on hire purchase, so the machine is yours at the end, or on a lease if you prefer to upgrade sooner. Used machines from specialist dealers are fundable. The thing worth understanding is the free-on-loan model. Roasters will place a machine at no cost against a bean supply agreement, and the price per kilo across that agreement usually exceeds what the machine would have cost you to own.
Used kit: Yes. Reconditioned espresso machines are widely funded, particularly premium brands, provided a specialist has rebuilt the groups and boiler and can supply a warranty and serial number.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Espresso machines are one of the genuinely strong assets in hospitality. La Marzocco in particular holds value remarkably well, there is an established global used market, machines are serial numbered, and a funder can realistically recover and resell one. That makes them easier to place than most catering kit. The sector caution still applies — coffee shops open and close at a rate underwriters track — so filed accounts, time trading and bank conduct matter, and a first site usually needs a director guarantee. Installation is light, which helps: a machine, grinder and water filtration make up nearly the whole invoice, with very little unrecoverable labour compared with a full kitchen fit-out.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Independent coffee shops opening or upgrading from an entry-level machine, restaurants and hotels where a poor flat white undoes an otherwise good meal, bakeries adding a coffee offer, and roasters fitting out their own bar. The trigger is typically a quality decision: a barista who cannot get consistent shots from an ageing two-group, or a site whose coffee volume has outgrown the boiler recovery on the machine it started with.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Compare the total cost, not the headline. A loaned machine is paid for through the bean price, usually with a minimum kilo commitment over several years, and you never own it. Funding your own machine means you choose your roaster, change when the coffee stops being good, and keep an asset with real resale value at the end.
Yes, and you should, because a grinder alone is usually too small a ticket to fund and it is the component that most affects cup quality. One schedule listing the machine, the grinders and the water filtration gives the funder a sensible facility and leaves you with one payment covering the whole bar setup.
Generally yes, and they are among the easier used catering assets to place because the brand holds its value and a funder can see a resale route. What matters is provenance: buy from a specialist who has rebuilt the machine and can document it, rather than from a closing cafe with no history and no warranty.
Often, but it is underwritten on you. Expect a personal guarantee, questions about your background in coffee or hospitality, a signed lease and a sensible view of projected volumes. Choosing a recognised brand helps, because the funder knows the machine is worth something even if the shop does not work out.
Usually yes when it is on the same invoice, and it is worth including because scale is what kills espresso machines. Filter heads and softener systems supplied with the machine sit on the agreement without difficulty. Replacement cartridges are consumables and belong in your running costs rather than on a finance schedule.
