Anaesthetic machines, vaporisers and monitors are modest individually but add up fast when a practice is equipping more than one theatre.

Yes. Anaesthetic machines, calibrated vaporisers, ventilators and multiparameter monitors are all fundable and normally go on a single schedule with the rest of the theatre equipment. Individually they are small tickets, which is why they are rarely financed alone. Two things catch buyers out. Scavenging and piped gas installation is building work rather than equipment, so it is treated as soft cost. And vaporisers need periodic recalibration, which is a service cost sitting outside the agreement but which a funder will ask about if the machine is second-hand.
Used kit: Yes, with conditions — used machines of around ten years old are fundable where the vaporiser has a current calibration certificate and a dealer has serviced the unit.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
This is a credit decision dressed up as an asset decision. The equipment is reliable, long-lived and recognisable, but a used anaesthetic machine sells for very little and a funder is realistic about that, so the RCVS-registered practice behind it does the heavy lifting. Healthcare desks that already write veterinary business will often approve a theatre schedule on filed accounts and a bureau search alone. Practice ownership shapes the approach: corporate-owned branches are underwritten against the group, while independents stand on their own numbers, and a practice in the middle of being sold to a group creates uncertainty a funder dislikes. Declines are usually about the borrower rather than the kit — overdue accounts, a broken time-to-pay arrangement with HMRC, or a start-up with no premises and no guarantor.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Small animal practices adding a second anaesthetic station so theatre and dental work can run in parallel, and practices upgrading monitoring because an insurer, a referral partner or a practice standards assessment has pushed them to. New start practices equipping a first theatre buy the whole chain at once. Equine practices buying large animal circuits and ventilators are a smaller, higher value group.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Partly. The pipework and installation is building work with no recovery value, so funders treat it as soft cost and will only carry a proportion against the hard equipment. Keeping it on the supplier invoice rather than a separate contractor bill materially improves the chances of including it.
Usually, provided it has been recalibrated and you have the certificate. Funders are not assessing clinical suitability, but they do want evidence that a used asset has been properly serviced by a recognised supplier, because an unserviced unit is neither usable nor saleable. A dealer supplying the machine with a recent service and calibration record removes the question entirely.
It may be below the minimum many asset funders will write, in which case an unsecured business loan is often the faster and simpler answer. If you are buying monitoring or theatre kit in the same period, grouping the purchases gets you into asset finance territory with better options.
Tell us, because it changes who should apply and when. A funder that discovers a change of control it was not told about is entitled to take a dim view. Sometimes it is cleaner to let the acquiring group fund the equipment; sometimes the existing company should complete first.
Yes, and they help. Monitors are portable, serial numbered and hold value better than the anaesthetic machine itself, so including them strengthens the asset side of the schedule. Funders prefer a theatre package with a couple of genuinely recoverable items in it. List the monitors with their serial numbers on the schedule so they are properly recorded as assets.
