Implant kit is small, expensive and highly portable, which makes it easy to lose track of and slightly awkward to secure against.

Yes, though implant equipment is an unusual asset because so much of it is small. Surgical motors, piezosurgery units, physiodispensers, stability meters and guided surgery trays are all fundable, but individually many of them fall below the threshold a funder will write on their own. In practice they are bundled, often alongside a CBCT or a scanner, into one schedule. The thing that catches people out is implant components themselves: fixtures, abutments and surgical kit consumables are stock, not equipment, and cannot go on an asset agreement.
Used kit: Yes, but selectively — dealer-supplied motors and piezo units of a few years old are fundable, while used surgical kits and trays generally are not.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
The covenant does nearly all the work here. A funder knows an implant dentist generates high value per case and treats the registration and the practice accounts as the security, because a repossessed surgical motor is worth very little and a used surgical tray is worth nothing at all. That makes this a credit-led decision rather than an asset-led one. Healthcare desks will run it quickly on a clean file. Where it gets sticky is the newly trained dentist with no implant income yet and a large equipment list, since the underwriter is being asked to fund a change of business model. They also push back on schedules padded with consumables, and on applicants wanting to refinance kit they bought on a credit card months earlier without a clean paper trail.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Usually a dentist who has completed implant training and is setting up to place rather than refer, buying a motor, a piezo unit and a guided surgery kit in one go. Established implant practices replace motors that have been dropped or serviced to death, and add a second set so two surgeries can run simultaneously. Oral surgery referral centres buying at greater scale form the upper end of the enquiries.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
No. Fixtures, abutments, healing caps and drills are consumable stock and funders will not capitalise them on an asset agreement, because there is nothing identifiable to recover. Those belong in working capital. Only the durable equipment goes on the schedule. Motors, piezo units and stability meters qualify; anything you open, use and throw away does not.
Possibly, but expect more scrutiny. You are asking a funder to support income you have not yet earned, so they lean on your existing practice performance, your associate earnings and often a personal guarantee. Applications go considerably better when the equipment is modest and the practice is already trading well.
Not to an agreement already in force, but you can often run a new schedule with the same funder, which keeps administration simple. If you know both purchases are coming, it is better to tell us up front so the whole requirement is priced as one facility from the start.
Perpetual planning software bought with the hardware sometimes is. Per-case guide design fees and cloud planning subscriptions are not. It is the same principle across dentistry: funders capitalise things that exist and can be identified, not services billed as you use them. If the guided surgery element is a large part of your quote, ask the supplier to show the hardware and licensing values separately.
Some funders will consider a sale and leaseback where the purchase was recent and you have the original invoice, proof of payment and the serial numbers. The paper trail is everything. Cash purchases with no documentation are the usual reason these are declined. Keep the supplier invoice, the bank payment and the serial numbers together and the request is far more likely to succeed.
