Can you finance a rotational moulding machine?
Yes, though this is a more specialist conversation than injection moulding. Rotomoulding machines are hard assets and fund on hire purchase, but the resale pool is small because there are relatively few rotomoulders in the UK, so underwriters lean more on your trading history than they would on a mainstream press. Used machines are fundable. The moulds are the sticking point: rotomoulding tools are large, product-specific and often aluminium cast for one tank shape, which makes them a soft cost that is rarely funded.
Used kit: Yes — used rotomoulding machines are fundable and units of ten to fifteen years old are considered, with oven condition and burner servicing the key evidence.

What would a rotational moulding machine cost per month?
Asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what the buttons show, with the equivalent APR beside it. Your exact rate depends on the asset, the term, the deposit and the lender.
Prime is an established, profitable business with clean credit. Specialist covers newer businesses and credit that needs explaining — the asset itself carries part of the risk, which is why finance is often available where an unsecured loan is not.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 5.15% flat rate (equivalent to 9.9% APR representative), you would repay around £628 a month; total amount repayable approximately £30,150, of which £5,150 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval.
Rates shown are indicative flat rates with the equivalent APR alongside — the two are not the same number. Indicative only and does not constitute a quote or an offer of finance. Subject to status and lender approval.
How lenders treat it
This is a narrow market and funders know it. The machine is hard security but the buyer pool at resale is a handful of UK companies plus export, so an underwriter puts more weight on the accounts, the order book and the sector experience of the directors than on the recovery value alone. Moulds are soft costs: large, custom, single-product and expensive, and frequently the customer paid for them. Gas fired ovens with flues, fixed gas supplies and extraction are part installation, and that portion sits outside the agreement, with a landlord waiver likely on a leased site. Declines usually come from new entrants with no rotomoulding background trying to fund an entire plant at once.

Who buys one
Typically a manufacturer of water tanks, grit bins, playground equipment or agricultural troughs replacing an ageing oven with better process control and lower gas consumption. Also fabricators moving from welded steel or GRP to polyethylene for a product line, and established rotomoulders adding an arm to take on a contract they currently turn away.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Rotational moulding machine finance questions
Why is rotomoulding harder to fund than injection moulding?
Because there are far fewer machines and far fewer potential buyers in the UK. A funder has to think about who would take the machine on if it came back, and a thin resale market makes that harder. It does not stop the funding, it simply puts more weight on your accounts.
Can rotomoulding tools be financed?
Very rarely. An aluminium tool cast for one tank design is expensive but useless to anyone else, and in many cases the customer has already paid for it. Funders treat these as soft costs. Budget tooling separately and keep it off the machine quotation.
Is the oven part of the machine or part of the building?
It depends how it is built. A self-contained machine with its own oven chamber is an asset. A gas supply, flue and extraction fixed into the structure are installation works and sit outside the agreement, which also means landlord consent if you lease the site.
Would a funder look at a machine imported from Europe?
Yes, provided there is a service route. European builders supplying UK rotomoulders directly or through an agent are fine. What raises concern is a machine from a manufacturer with no presence here at all, because parts and support affect both your production and the recovery value.
Can I refinance existing arms to fund a new one?
Yes, if they are owned outright and free of charge. Refinancing owned rotomoulding plant can release working capital towards an expansion. Expect an inspection and a realistic rather than optimistic valuation, given how specialised the market is.
