Yes, with one thing to understand first. A two post lift is bolted through the workshop floor, which means that once installed it can legally be treated as part of the building rather than as loose equipment. Funders still write these on hire purchase, but if you rent your unit a landlord waiver is often requested so the lender knows the lift remains theirs. Used lifts are fundable. Installation, the concrete slab check and the statutory thorough examination are services sitting outside the finance agreement.
Used kit: Yes — used two post lifts fund where there is a current thorough examination certificate, with machines up to around ten years old routinely accepted.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Garage equipment funds well but the fixtures point is live from the start. A two post lift is anchored into the slab, so on a leased unit many funders ask the landlord to sign a waiver confirming the lift belongs to the lender rather than the premises. That single document causes more delay in this sector than credit ever does. The lift itself is hard security, serialised and traded through garage equipment dealers, though installation and removal costs eat into what it recovers. Installation labour, slab surveys, anchor resin and the statutory examination are services and are excluded. Smaller lifts often sit under the minimum deal size, so they are usually funded alongside the rest of the workshop fit-out. Declines mostly reflect brand new ventures with no trading history.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Most often a mobile mechanic or a technician leaving a main dealer to take a unit and open a workshop, buying a lift, a compressor and diagnostics together. Also established garages adding a second ramp to stop jobs queueing behind one lift, and specialists replacing an old ramp that has failed its thorough examination and cannot economically be repaired.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Because a lift anchored through the floor can be argued to have become part of the building, which would put it out of the funder reach if things went wrong. A short waiver from the landlord confirms the lift stays the property of the lender. Ask for it as soon as you agree the unit.
Rarely in full. Fitting, anchoring, slab testing and the first thorough examination are labour and services, so there is nothing to secure. Some funders will carry a proportion within a larger workshop package. Get the installed price from the supplier so nothing surprises you.
Yes, and for a new workshop that is the usual approach. Bundling the fit-out onto one quotation clears minimum deal sizes, gives you one payment and means a single credit decision rather than three separate applications.
It should be checked before you order. Two post lifts require a minimum slab thickness and strength, and a slab that fails means breaking out and pouring a new pad. That is construction work outside the finance, and it is the most common cause of a delayed installation.
Possibly, particularly if you have solid time-served experience and can show where work is coming from. Expect a personal guarantee and expect more questions than an established garage would get. We would go to lenders comfortable with new ventures rather than waste time elsewhere.
