Yes. A tyre changer funds as a hard asset on hire purchase, and the leading garage equipment brands have a dependable used market, so the security is easy for a funder to understand. Second-hand machines are fundable. What most buyers do not expect is the minimum deal size question: a basic swing-arm changer is often too small to write alone, so it usually goes on the same agreement as a balancer or a wider bay fit-out. Mobile fitters should expect extra questions about where the machine is kept.
Used kit: Yes — used tyre changers fund well and machines eight to twelve years old are routine, with the turntable and bead breaker condition the key points.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Changers are dependable mid-value assets: mechanically simple, serialised and cleared through garage equipment dealers at predictable prices. They are free-standing, so nothing becomes a fixture and renting your premises makes no difference to the decision. Mounting heads, bead breaker pads, protectors and valves are tooling and consumables and stay outside the agreement. The compressor that feeds the machine is a separate asset and can be included. Mobile operations attract a little more scrutiny because equipment on a van moves and can be harder to trace, so a funder will want the keeping address. Deal size is the usual obstacle. Declines are almost always about trading history rather than the machine.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Usually a tyre bay whose older changer is damaging alloys on low profile and run-flat fitments, with rim repair costs outweighing the price of a leverless machine. Also garages adding tyre work to capture business currently going down the road, and mobile tyre fitters fitting out a van-based operation where the equipment travels daily.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Yes, though expect more questions. Funders want a keeping address and confirmation of how the equipment is secured and insured, because a machine in a van is harder to trace than one bolted in a workshop. A clear trading record and van ownership details both help.
Yes. A workshop compressor is a distinct asset with its own value and resale market, so it can sit on the same agreement as the changer. Bundling it also lifts the total above the minimum a funder will write, which solves two problems at once.
No. Non-registered businesses are funded regularly, it simply changes how the VAT is treated on a hire purchase. Let us know your position at the outset so the agreement is structured correctly rather than amended later.
Only whatever the supplier includes in the machine price. Plastic protectors, bead breaker pads and mounting heads wear and are replaced regularly, so they are consumable tooling. Valves, weights and lubricant are stock items and never fundable.
It is worth asking rather than assuming. Satisfied defaults, historic CCJs and a difficult trading period are not automatic refusals, and some funders work specifically with these cases. Tell us up front and we will approach the right lenders first instead of collecting declines.
