Manual pallet truck finance
The cheapest lifting device in the building, and the one item most often bought on the card rather than on an agreement.

Can you finance a manual pallet truck?
Rarely on their own, but yes as part of a larger package. A manual pallet truck is a low-value, unserialised item that most funders will not write a standalone agreement against, simply because the amount is below their minimum and the recovery value is negligible. Where they earn their place is inside a bigger warehouse fit-out, listed alongside racking, powered equipment or a forklift. The thing to understand is that funders are lending against the total package here, not against the hand trucks themselves.
Used kit: No — second-hand hand pallet trucks are not realistically fundable, as the values are too small and the assets too anonymous to identify on an agreement.

What would a manual pallet truck cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
How lenders treat it
Honest answer: nobody funds hand pallet trucks for their own sake. They are a commodity item with no serial plate to trace, no meaningful second-hand market and a replacement cost low enough that recovery would cost more than the asset is worth. Funders therefore treat them as a soft line within a wider facility, underwritten entirely against the business. The practical consequence for a client is that adding hand trucks to a warehouse fit-out is easy and uncontroversial, while trying to finance twenty of them in isolation will get a polite refusal. Weigh-scale and high-lift manual models sit slightly higher up the value scale but the principle is unchanged.

Who buys one
Small manufacturers, food wholesalers and distribution sites kitting out a new unit, where a dozen hand trucks appear on the same equipment schedule as the racking and the first powered truck. They are also bought in volume by operators standardising a fleet across multiple depots, which is the one scenario where the quantity makes the line item large enough to matter on a finance schedule.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Manual pallet truck finance questions
Why will a funder not write an agreement just for pallet trucks?
Because the numbers do not work. Most funders have a minimum advance, and even a large order of hand trucks may not clear it. Beyond that, the assets have no serial identity and almost no resale value, so there is nothing to recover if the agreement fails. The lending would be unsecured in all but name.
Can they be added to an existing warehouse equipment agreement?
Often yes, if they appear on the same supplier invoice as the main equipment and the facility has not already drawn down. Once an agreement is live, adding small items usually means a supplementary schedule, which for a handful of hand trucks is more administration than it is worth.
Are weigh-scale pallet trucks treated any differently?
Slightly. A scale truck costs considerably more than a plain one and has a calibration certificate, which gives it a little more identity. It is still not an asset a funder would lend against alone, but within a package it carries more weight than a basic hand truck of the same footprint.
What is the sensible way to fund a full set of warehouse basics?
Package them. Put the hand trucks, the racking, the shelving, the wrapper and any powered equipment onto one schedule and present it as a single fit-out. That gives the funder a facility of sensible size with a mix of asset quality, and it gives you one payment rather than several.
Would a funder ever inspect hand pallet trucks?
Not individually. Where an inspection happens it is of the overall installation, and a valuer would note the trucks as part of the general equipment rather than attaching a value to each one. Their presence on the schedule is largely about accurately describing what the money was spent on.
