Can you finance a pallet wrapper?
Yes. Pallet wrappers are proper machines with model numbers, drives and control systems, and there is an active UK used market through packaging dealers, so funders treat them as hard assets on hire purchase or lease. Used wrappers are fundable. The one practical obstacle is size of deal: a basic semi-automatic turntable is a modest amount of money and may fall below a funder’s minimum, so single-machine purchases often need bundling with other equipment to be worth writing.
Used kit: Yes — used pallet wrappers fund reasonably well, particularly refurbished units from recognised dealers with the control system and film carriage in good order.

What would a pallet wrapper cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. How lenders treat it
Placed without difficulty when the numbers are right. These machines are simple, robust, easy to identify, and there is a real trade in refurbished units among packaging equipment dealers, which gives a funder comparable evidence. Semi-automatic turntables sit at the bottom of the value range and are typically bundled. Rotary arm and ring wrappers, and fully automatic in-line machines integrated with a conveyor, are considerably more valuable and support their own agreement comfortably — though an in-line machine built into a conveyor run starts to inherit the installation problem, so describe the configuration accurately. Where a wrapper is bought as part of a despatch upgrade with a conveyor and a strapper, funding the lot as one project is neater than three small agreements.

Who buys one
Food and drink producers, builders merchants, print finishers and any despatch bay currently wrapping pallets by hand with a roll and a lot of walking. The buying trigger is usually film cost, a run of damaged loads arriving at customers, a manual handling complaint from the despatch team, or a volume increase that makes hand wrapping the slowest point in the shift.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Pallet wrapper finance questions
Is a turntable or rotary arm machine the better finance proposition?
A rotary arm machine costs more, which makes it easier to fund as a standalone agreement, and it holds value well. A turntable wrapper is cheaper and often needs to be combined with other purchases to reach a funder’s minimum. Choose on operational need first and structure the finance around it.
Can the stretch film be included in the agreement?
No. Film is a consumable, like fuel or gas bottles, and finance agreements fund equipment. Many suppliers offer film contracts alongside the machine, sometimes with attractive pricing, but that is a separate supply arrangement and should be assessed on its own merits rather than bundled into the capital decision.
Do wrappers need bolting down, and does that matter?
Most turntable machines simply sit on the floor and some are bolted for stability, which is easily reversed. That keeps them firmly in the movable category, unlike racking. A fully integrated in-line wrapper within a conveyor run is more involved to remove, and funders view that configuration slightly differently.
Can we finance a wrapper alongside a forklift?
Yes, and it is a common pairing on a despatch upgrade. The forklift gives the facility strong asset backing and the wrapper adds a second solid machine, so the package is easy to place. One agreement covering both is simpler to administer than two small ones.
Is a used wrapper from a packaging dealer acceptable to funders?
Generally yes. Refurbished machines from established dealers come with a warranty and a pre-delivery check, which funders are comfortable with. They will want the make, model and serial number on the invoice and confirmation that the dealer owns the machine outright rather than selling it on behalf of someone else.
