Very narrow aisle truck finance
Turret and man-up trucks turn a building’s height into usable pallet positions, working aisles barely wider than the load itself.

Can you finance a very narrow aisle truck?
Yes, though VNA sits at the specialist end of truck finance. These are high-value, high-technology machines and the funders who like them are the ones who understand the market. They are written on hire purchase, lease or contract hire, and used machines can be funded. The point worth grasping early is that a VNA truck is built around a specific building — aisle width, lift height, wire or rail guidance — so the truck and the racking are effectively one system, and that narrows who else can use it later.
Used kit: Yes — used VNA trucks are fundable, though the age tolerance is tighter than on a counterbalance and the configuration matters more than the year.

What would a very narrow aisle truck cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. How lenders treat it
Placed with care rather than with difficulty. The values are substantial, so the covenant behind the deal matters more than it would on a three-tonne counterbalance. The residual question is real: a truck configured for a twelve-metre wire-guided aisle has a limited audience, and any buyer effectively needs a matching warehouse, so funders discount accordingly and may prefer a structure that keeps them closer to the asset. Guidance infrastructure in the floor is part of the building rather than the truck, which is a point worth making early. Manufacturer-backed funding is strong in this space and often competitive, and contract hire with full maintenance is common because in-house engineers rarely touch these machines.

Who buys one
High-bay distribution centres, spare parts operations and third-party logistics providers running a pallet-dense site where floor space costs more than height does. The purchase is usually part of a wider project: a new racking scheme, a site consolidation, or a contract win that requires many more pallet positions inside the same four walls rather than an expensive move to a bigger building.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Very narrow aisle truck finance questions
Can the wire guidance installation be financed with the truck?
It is normally treated separately. Wire cut into the floor slab, or guide rails bolted to it, becomes part of the building in the same way racking does, so it carries the soft-asset problem. It can usually be funded, but as part of the wider project rather than as an extension of the truck itself.
Is articulated narrow aisle a better bet than a turret truck?
For finance purposes an articulated truck is often the easier asset, because it can work conventional aisles and outdoors as well as narrow ones, which widens its resale market considerably. Turret trucks are more productive in a dedicated high-bay aisle but sell to a narrower audience later.
Why do funders ask about our lease term on the building?
Because a VNA truck is only valuable to you while you have a building it fits. If your lease has less time left than the finance agreement, a funder will want to understand what happens at the break. It is not a blocker, but it is a fair question and worth having an answer ready.
Can several VNA trucks be funded as one project with the racking?
Yes, and that is often how these schemes arrive at our desk. The trucks give the facility real asset backing while the racking and the guidance system do not, so combining everything into one project produces a considerably stronger proposition than presenting a large racking installation on its own would ever manage.
Is manufacturer finance always the cheapest route?
Not always, but it is often competitive because the manufacturer has a residual interest in the machine and a captive maintenance relationship. The value of going to market is seeing that offer alongside independent funders, since the cheapest headline is not always the most flexible structure at the end of the term.
