Funding for vacuum and pump slurry tankers and the low-emission applicators fitted to them, for dairy, beef and pig units and slurry contractors.

Yes. Slurry tankers are funded on hire purchase every week and used tankers are well supported because the tank itself has a very long life. The applicator is now the part that drives the decision: dribble bars, trailing shoes and injectors are being fitted in response to tightening expectations on low-emission spreading, and they can cost as much as the tanker. The trap is grant funding. Some agricultural grant schemes will not accept an item bought on hire purchase or lease because they require you to own it outright at the point of claim, so check the scheme rules before you sign any finance.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Slurry equipment is viewed favourably because demand is being driven by regulation rather than fashion, so there is a steady secondhand market and recovery values are predictable. Tanks rarely depreciate as sharply as powered machinery, though funders will look at whether a steel tank is galvanised and what state the internals are in. Applicators are checked separately because a trailing shoe or dribble bar has its own resale value. Most of this business sits naturally with agricultural funders who understand NVZ and closed period rules; general plant lenders are less comfortable. Contractors will be asked about their spreading book and whether they hold the relevant certification. Payment profiles are often shaped around the spreading season rather than spread evenly.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Dairy farms replacing an old splash plate tanker before spreading rules bite, beef and pig units that need more capacity because storage is being expanded, and slurry contractors running umbilical systems alongside tankers. The trigger is usually a new or enlarged slurry store, a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone requirement, or a tanker that has started to leak in a year when nobody wants a pollution incident on record.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Sometimes, but check the scheme rules first. A number of agricultural grant schemes require the applicant to own the equipment outright when the claim is made, which rules out hire purchase and lease. Where that applies, the usual approach is to fund the unfunded balance or the wider yard project instead. Never assume, and never sign finance before confirming.
Yes, if they are invoiced together. Applicators are a large part of the total spend now and funders are happy to include them as part of one machine. Retro-fitting an applicator to a tanker you already own is a separate, smaller deal but still fundable.
Older than most farm machinery. A galvanised tank with a sound chassis and a serviceable vacuum pump has a very long working life, and funders know it. They will ask about the pump, the running gear and whether the tank has been repaired. Age alone is rarely the reason for a decline on this asset.
Yes. Pumps, reelers, lay-flat hose and the tractor unit can all be funded, and contractors commonly finance a complete umbilical system as one package. Funders treat it as contracting equipment, so they will want to see the spreading contracts or invoicing history behind it.
It can. Larger tankers need to be properly braked and plated for road work, and insurers and the police take an interest in tanker weights and brakes. A funder will not usually make it a condition, but a tanker that cannot legally be taken on the road is worth less to everybody, including you.
