Fund a tracked chipper that walks itself onto site, for woodland, estate and restricted access work where a road-tow machine cannot go.

Yes. A tracked chipper is funded as a hard asset and generally sits comfortably with funders, because the brands are well known, the serial number is easy to verify and the machine sells on into forestry, estate and utility work. The distinction from a road-tow chipper matters commercially rather than for credit: a tracked unit costs more, so the advance is larger and the business behind it gets more scrutiny. Used machines are funded, with the engine hours, the rotor and the track condition setting the value. Undercarriage wear is the item most often missed when a buyer inspects a used machine.
Used kit: Yes — used tracked chippers fund well, though undercarriage condition and rotor wear affect valuation more than the age of the machine.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Funders class tracked chippers with self-propelled plant, which gives a broader panel than small arb kit and generally a longer view on the asset. Resale is genuinely good, as these machines are sought after second-hand. With a larger advance, though, the underwriting sharpens: accounts, existing commitments and the pattern of income all get inspected, and arb seasonality is put to you directly. Where a chipper is bought against utility or local authority vegetation work, a framework place or purchase order makes the case straightforward. Private sales occur in this market, generally between contractors after a contract ends, and require an invoice, serial number and proof the seller owns the machine free of finance. Declines tend to come from an advance out of proportion to turnover, or from undisclosed existing agreements surfacing on the credit search.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Arb and forestry contractors working woodland, parkland and estate sites where towing a chipper across soft ground is not an option, and utility vegetation teams dealing with lineside and trackside access. The trigger is usually a contract with no vehicle access to the work face, or a client who will not accept rutting across a lawn or a field. Firms doing storm and windblow clearance buy them for the same reason.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Not harder, but the larger advance means more scrutiny of the business. The asset itself is good security with a strong second-hand market. Where a road-tow machine might go through on light information, a tracked machine usually calls for accounts or management figures and a conversation about where the work is coming from.
Hours on the engine, condition of the rotor and blades, and the state of the undercarriage. Tracks and rollers are expensive to replace and are the item buyers most often overlook, so a valuer will check them. A documented service history from a recognised dealer makes the valuation much easier to agree.
Yes, and it is common. The dealer nets the part exchange off the invoice and the finance is written against the balance, provided any outstanding agreement on the old machine is settled through the transaction. Tell your broker about the settlement figure up front, because it affects how the deal is structured.
No. Whether it has a road-tow chassis makes no difference to the funder, only to how you move it. What matters is that the machine is identifiable by serial number and is legitimately yours to finance. Site-only machines are funded routinely, usually alongside the trailer or lorry that carries them.
Considerably. A framework place with a distribution network operator, Network Rail or a highways authority gives funders visibility of income that domestic arb work cannot. Provide the purchase order or contract summary with the application and it will usually speed the decision and widen the options available.
