Can you finance a case clamp and frame clamp?

Yes. Case clamps and frame clamps are funded as equipment on hire purchase, though they sit lower down the hard asset scale than the cutting machines around them. They are largely fabricated steel with pneumatics, they are moved easily, and the used market is thinner than for saws or banders, so funders take a more measured view of resale. Standalone applications are assessed mainly on your business rather than the frame. The far easier approach is to include the clamp on the same order as the saw, bander or boring machine, where it funds without any separate scrutiny.

Used kit: Yes, but usually as part of a larger order rather than on its own

What would a case clamp and frame clamp cost per month?

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.

Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. How lenders treat it

Clamping equipment is a good example of an asset that is physically substantial but not especially liquid. There is no deep trade in second-hand case clamps the way there is in panel saws, so a funder recovering one faces a slow sale at a modest figure. That pushes standalone deals towards the soft asset end, where the decision follows your trading history, filed accounts and director profile rather than the kit. Automatic squaring and clamping stations from recognised manufacturers fare better because they are identifiable and in demand in the cabinet trade. The practical route is bundling: put the clamp on the machine order it belongs with, and it rides on the back of an asset the funder is genuinely comfortable with.

Who buys one

Cabinet and kitchen manufacturers assembling carcases in batches, and door, window and gate makers cramping frames. The trigger is usually a quality or labour problem — racked carcases coming off the bench, or two people tied up doing what a clamp does alone. Shops that have just installed a nesting machine often find assembly becomes the constraint within months, because machining output has jumped and assembly has not.

How it is treated for tax

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.

Case clamp and frame clamp finance questions

Can I finance a case clamp on its own?

You can, but it is assessed largely on your business rather than the equipment because the second-hand market is thin. That tends to mean a soft asset or unsecured decision. If another machine is being bought in the same period, adding the clamp to that invoice is quicker, simpler and usually costs you less.

Is an automatic case clamp worth the step up?

It depends on batch size. An automatic squaring station earns its keep where you are assembling runs of identical carcases every week. For mixed bespoke work a good manual clamp and a square bench may serve you better. Funders will finance either, so let the production case decide rather than the finance.

What about sash cramps and bench equipment?

Loose cramps are tools, not assets, and no funder will write an agreement against a rack of them. A purpose-built hydraulic cramping bench is a different matter and can be included. The line is roughly whether the item has a serial number and a resale identity of its own.

Does a clamp need a landlord waiver?

Usually not. Most clamps stand on the floor rather than being built into the structure, so the fixture question that bites on booths and extraction does not arise. If yours is being bolted to a concrete base as part of an assembly line, mention it, because that changes how a cautious funder sees it.

Can I add it to an existing agreement?

Not to one already running, no. An agreement covers the assets listed when it was drawn up. What can be done is a second agreement, or a settle-and-rewrite where you are buying enough new equipment to make that sensible. Tell us before you order and we will look at which is cleaner.
