Flatbed nesting turns a sheet of board straight into labelled cabinet parts, and it is bought to replace a saw, a router and a lot of marking out.

Yes. A flatbed nesting CNC is funded as a hard asset on hire purchase or lease, and machines from Biesse, Homag, SCM Morbidelli, Holz-Her and Felder are well understood by funders. Used machines around ten years old fund where the controller is still supported. The point people miss is that a nester is not a standalone purchase. It needs serious vacuum, a spoilboard routine, real extraction and nesting software, and it produces so many edged components that an edge bander usually follows within a year. Planning the whole cell up front gives a far better funding outcome than three separate agreements.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Underwriters treat nesters as strong hard asset security because the used market is active and the machines are simple to identify and move. What they scrutinise is the surrounding spend. A quote where a third of the value is software, spoilboard, dust hoods and training makes the advance look larger than the recoverable asset, so expect questions or a request to restructure. The deal sits with mainstream asset funders and with manufacturer-backed vendor schemes, which are often the sharpest route on new machines. Declines cluster around young companies buying a production-scale machine on the strength of one contract, and around businesses whose filed accounts do not support the monthly commitment. A signed contract or order book evidence helps materially.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Cabinet, kitchen and bedroom manufacturers who are cutting and drilling the same carcase parts repeatedly and want labelled, drilled panels straight off the bed. The trigger is usually labour: a setter or machinist has left, or the shop cannot recruit, and nesting takes the skill requirement out of panel processing. It is also the standard route for a shop replacing an ageing panel saw and a hand router in one step.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Yes, and it is usually the better approach. A cell covering the nester, the vacuum system, extraction and the edge bander can be structured as one package rather than three unrelated agreements. It gives the funder a coherent project to underwrite and gives you a single monthly figure to price your work against. Tell us the full plan before we approach anyone.
It can. Nesting and labelling software carries no recovery value, so where it forms a large share of the invoice some funders will reduce the advance. Where it is bundled into a manufacturer turnkey quote it is generally accepted without argument. If you are buying software from a third party, expect to handle that part separately.
A little, but not much. Mainstream makes with live controller support fund comfortably second hand. The questions will be about spindle hours, vacuum pump condition and whether the bed and pods have been maintained. Where a used machine gets difficult is an unsupported control or an obscure import, because there is no established UK resale route.
Considerably more than most shops expect. Nesting produces continuous fine dust across a full sheet, and an undersized extractor will choke the machine and breach your LEV obligations. Specify the extraction with the machine supplier and put it on the same invoice, which also makes it fund naturally as part of the asset rather than as a separate low-value purchase.
It is harder but not impossible. A new company buying a production machine usually needs a director with a strong personal position, evidence of the contracts behind the purchase and often a deposit. Where directors have run a comparable business before, funders will weigh that experience. Be realistic and let us test the market quietly rather than papering the industry with applications.
