Pallet manufacturing is a volume game with thin margins per unit, which makes the speed and consistency of the nailing line the whole business.

Yes. Pallet nailing machines, assembly jigs and automatic nailing lines are funded as industrial plant on hire purchase or finance lease. Manufacturers including Corali, Storti and Viking are known to funders who lend into timber processing, and used machines fund where the nailing heads and pneumatics have been rebuilt. The point worth understanding is that pallet plants are usually bought as a line: a nailer, a notcher, a stacker and conveyors between them. Funders advance most readily against the nailing machine itself, and conveyor and stacking content needs itemising separately on the quote.
Used kit: Yes, where the nailing heads, jigs and pneumatics have been overhauled

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Underwriters approach pallet plant as heavy-duty production machinery with a stable industrial market. The machines are robust, serial-numbered and traded within a specific trade, so recovery is realistic if slower than for a mainstream woodworking machine. What they examine closely is the customer concentration behind the investment: pallet businesses often depend on a small number of large accounts, and a line bought for one contract carries obvious risk if that contract ends. Evidence of a spread of customers, or a contracted term, strengthens the file considerably. Nail and staple stock will be removed from any invoice as consumables. Where a new line is being installed, keep the compressed air installation and floor works on a separate contractor invoice.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Pallet manufacturers, packaging companies producing their own cases and crates, and sawmills moving downstream into finished product. The trigger is almost always a contract: a customer committing to weekly volumes that hand nailing cannot serve profitably. Recycled pallet businesses buy dismantling and repair equipment for the same reason, which is throughput per operator rather than any change in the product.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
No. Fastener stock is a consumable and gets removed from the invoice, exactly as adhesive and abrasives do on other machines. Only the nailing equipment, jigs and compressors can be funded. Keep fasteners on your normal supply account so the pay-out goes through without the funder trimming the figure.
It can. Underwriters look carefully at concentration, because a line justified by one contract becomes a problem if that contract moves. It does not stop the deal, but it needs addressing. A contract with a defined term, or evidence of other accounts, gives the funder something concrete to weigh against the risk.
Yes. Recycling and repair equipment funds on the same basis as new-build nailing plant, and demand for reconditioned pallets keeps a market for the machines. Funders will ask about the state of the hydraulics and cutting heads on a used unit, which is the same question you should be asking anyway.
It can be and it should be. Pneumatic nailing lines need serious air capacity, and a compressor is a solid recoverable asset that strengthens rather than dilutes the proposal. Put it on the same order as the nailer. The pipework installation is a service cost and belongs on a separate invoice.
Yes, and the two are frequently bought together because export pallets need ISPM 15 treatment. The chamber plant funds as equipment while any building element is handled separately. Presenting the nailing line and the treatment chamber as one project gives an underwriter a complete picture of the operation.
