Postformed worktops and laminate-wrapped edges are a volume business, and the machines that make them are purpose-built production plant.

Yes. Postforming machines, laminate wrapping lines and CNC worktop centres are funded as industrial plant on hire purchase or finance lease. Manufacturers such as Barberan and Friz are established names and their machines hold value within the panel processing trade. Used machines are fundable where the heating elements, forming shoes and glue system have been maintained. What needs thinking about is that postforming is a line rather than a machine — trimming, gluing, forming and cooling sections plus conveyors — so the invoice covers a lot of length, and conveyor content is the weakest part of the security.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Postforming plant is a specialist file. The machines are unmistakably industrial and the makers are well known within the panel trade, but the buyer pool in the UK is small — a funder recovering a postforming line is selling to a handful of possible homes, not an open market. That pushes these deals towards funders with real manufacturing experience rather than the fast automated end. They will want accounts, an explanation of the contracts behind the purchase and often a guarantee. The recoverable proportion is the other issue: heated forming sections and glue systems carry value, long conveyor runs do not. A quote that separates the forming machine from the handling gives a much better advance than one lump sum.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Worktop manufacturers and distributors, kitchen suppliers producing their own postformed tops, and panel processors offering wrapped profiles and shaped edges to the trade. The reason to invest is control over specification and lead time, particularly where a customer wants a colour or profile outside the standard range. CNC worktop centres get bought by fabricators doing cut-outs and masons mitres who are still routing by jig.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Generally yes, because CNC machining centres have a far broader resale market than a dedicated postforming line. If your requirement is cut-outs and mitres rather than laminate wrapping, the CNC route is both the more flexible machine and the simpler funding conversation. Postformers make sense once wrapping volume justifies them.
To an extent. Infeed and outfeed conveyors are part of a working line and funders will usually include them, but they discount the value because a roller bed is worth little once removed. Where handling is a large share of the total, expect the advance to reflect that unless the quote is itemised.
The applicator, pumps and heating equipment yes; the adhesive itself no. That distinction applies across every machine that applies glue. Order the consumables separately and the machine invoice stays clean, which avoids the funder having to trim the figure at pay-out.
They appear, usually when a worktop manufacturer consolidates or closes. Funders will look at them, but they want evidence of condition on the heated sections and forming shoes, and a clear title. Because the market is thin, a specialist dealer standing behind the machine makes a material difference to the application.
Established manufacturers with volume behind them, rather than fabricators doing a few tops a week. Underwriters know this, so a smaller business applying for a full line will be asked what work justifies it. A signed supply agreement or a firm order book is the evidence that answers the question.
