Contouring devices are sold hard, bought quickly and sometimes resold within a year, and funders have long memories about that.
Whole-of-market — 60+ lenders searched, including
Often yes, though this is one of the harder aesthetic categories to place. The devices are portable and identifiable, which helps, but the resale market is volatile because models are superseded quickly and distributors discount heavily. Funders therefore lean on the clinic rather than the machine. The detail that catches buyers out is applicator and consumable cost: many contouring systems require single-use applicators or gel pads per treatment, and none of that recurring spend can be included in an asset agreement, so it has to come out of trading cash.
Used kit: Yes but with care — dealer-supplied used devices up to around five years old are fundable where the model is still supported and free of existing finance.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Underwriters have seen this category cycle before and price accordingly. A contouring device from a major manufacturer with UK service support and an established used market is reasonable security; an unbranded import bought on a payment plan from a distributor is not, and some funders will not write those at all. Ownership again decides the door: CQC-registered premises with a registered clinician attract healthcare treatment, while gyms, salons and wellness operators are underwritten as leisure or retail, with personal guarantees expected. Funders will check whether the machine is already subject to finance elsewhere, as refinancing the same device through successive owners is a known pattern. Declines cluster on start-up businesses with no accounts, on quotes dominated by consumables and marketing support, and on applicants relying entirely on distributor income projections.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Aesthetic and skin clinics broadening their treatment menu beyond injectables, gyms and wellness operators adding a non-invasive contouring service, and clinics that have been renting a device per session and decided ownership makes more sense. A common trigger is a distributor roadshow or a trade show demonstration, which is why we usually suggest getting an independent view on the numbers first.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
No. Anything consumed per treatment is stock rather than capital equipment and funders will not capitalise it. Distributors regularly quote a bundle that mixes the device with a starter pack of consumables, so ask for the equipment value shown separately or the approval will fall short of the invoice.
Because they have funded devices that were superseded fast, resold cheaply or stopped being used when the treatment fell out of fashion. That history shapes appetite. Recognised manufacturers with UK service networks and a real used market fare much better than one-off imported systems. It is worth asking your distributor how many of their machines are in use in the UK.
Yes, but as a leisure business rather than a healthcare one. Expect a personal guarantee, more interest in membership income and a narrower set of lenders. If a registered clinician is involved and the premises are CQC registered, the application moves into a different and friendlier category.
Compare it properly before you sign. Vendor plans are convenient but you only ever see one offer, and the terms are set by a party with an interest in the sale. A whole-of-market search costs you nothing to run and at minimum gives you something to benchmark the vendor offer against.
Possibly, through a sale and leaseback, if you have the original invoice, proof of payment and the serial number, and the machine is genuinely unencumbered. Funders check carefully in this category. Without a clean paper trail it will not proceed. The serial number on the invoice must match the machine in your treatment room, which sounds obvious and often is not.
