Endoscopy equipment finance
A scope is only half the purchase — the decontamination side is the half that decides whether the service can actually run.

Can you finance endoscopy equipment?
Yes. Endoscopy is regularly funded, usually as a complete service rather than a single item: processor, light source, monitor, trolley, a set of scopes, and the reprocessing chain of washer-disinfector and drying cabinet. Used scopes are fundable through specialist refurbishers. The thing that catches buyers out is that the decontamination side is often as expensive as the imaging side and is frequently left out of the original budget, and without it the service cannot open — so a funder will ask about it even when your quote does not mention it.
Used kit: Yes — refurbished processors and scopes are funded where a specialist reprocessor supplies them with warranty, commonly up to around seven or eight years old.

What would endoscopy equipment cost per month?
Asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what the buttons show, with the equivalent APR beside it. Your exact rate depends on the asset, the term, the deposit and the lender.
Prime is an established, profitable business with clean credit. Specialist covers newer businesses and credit that needs explaining — the asset itself carries part of the risk, which is why finance is often available where an unsecured loan is not.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 5.15% flat rate (equivalent to 9.9% APR representative), you would repay around £628 a month; total amount repayable approximately £30,150, of which £5,150 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval.
Rates shown are indicative flat rates with the equivalent APR alongside — the two are not the same number. Indicative only and does not constitute a quote or an offer of finance. Subject to status and lender approval.
How lenders treat it
Funders treat consultant-owned clinics as strong professional covenants, and endoscopy processors and washer-disinfectors are genuinely recoverable assets with an international resale market, so appetite is reasonable. Scopes are the awkward part: they are fragile, repair costs are significant, and a damaged scope has little value, so some underwriters discount them heavily within the schedule. CQC registration is non-negotiable in their eyes. Income source shapes the view, with insurer-funded and NHS subcontracted caseload reading better than pure self-pay. Reasons for decline include clinics without a registered manager in place, projects where building and ventilation works dominate the cost, and applicants seeking to fund a service they have no existing referral pipeline for.

Who buys one
Private gastroenterology and urology clinics setting up their own lists rather than renting theatre time, independent hospitals replacing an ageing stack, and consultant-owned companies establishing a day-case service. ENT and respiratory clinics buying flexible nasendoscopes at a smaller scale are frequent callers too. The trigger is usually waiting list demand outrunning the sessions available at a rented facility. A few callers are clinics replacing scopes condemned at a decontamination audit.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Endoscopy equipment finance questions
Can reprocessing equipment be financed with the stack?
Yes, and it should be. Washer-disinfectors and drying cabinets are substantial, identifiable assets that strengthen the schedule, and funders know a stack without reprocessing cannot be used. Presenting the whole service on one schedule is both more honest and easier to place. It also avoids the awkward situation of an approved stack sitting in a box while you arrange the reprocessing separately.
How do lenders view scopes specifically?
Cautiously. They are expensive, delicate and costly to repair, and a damaged scope is close to unsaleable, so some underwriters attribute less security value to them than the invoice suggests. It rarely stops an approval, but it can influence how much they want covered elsewhere.
Are single-use scope systems fundable?
The processor and monitor are, because they are durable equipment. The single-use scopes themselves are consumables and cannot be capitalised. If your supplier quotes a bundled price covering both, ask them to separate the capital equipment so the fundable figure is clear. Single-use scope models shift cost from capital to consumables, which changes the shape of the application considerably.
We are consultants setting up a new company. Is that too early?
Not necessarily. Funders will look at your existing consultant income, your referral relationships and usually take personal guarantees. What makes the difference is evidence of demand and a registered, secured facility. A new company with neither is a much harder conversation. Evidence of existing private practice income, and a facility or lease already signed, does more than anything else to move it along.
Can theatre ventilation works be included?
Generally only a limited proportion, alongside the equipment. Ventilation and building alterations are soft costs with no recovery value. Where the works are a large share of the project, they usually need funding separately while the equipment goes on a conventional asset facility. We would map that out before approaching lenders so you are not asking one funder to do two different jobs.
