The sliding table saw is the spine of most joinery shops, and it is one of the simplest woodworking machines to fund because the resale market is so well established.

Yes. A sliding table panel saw is funded as a hard asset, normally on hire purchase or a finance lease, and it is among the easiest machines in a joinery shop to place. Altendorf, Martin, SCM and Felder hold their value, so funders are comfortable with used machines from a dealer and often with an auction or private purchase where an engineer inspects it first. The thing that catches buyers out is the invoice: scoring units, extended slide lengths, digital fences, tilting arbors and the tooling package all need to be on the quote from the outset, because bolting them on later means a separate agreement for a small balance.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
This is textbook hard asset lending. A panel saw is identifiable by serial number, it is not fixed to the building, and there is a deep UK second-hand trade in the German and Italian makes, so a funder can see an exit without much imagination. That means mainstream bank-owned lessors and the broader asset-backed market will both look at it, and pricing tends to be the keenest of anything in a wood shop. What gets a case declined is rarely the machine. It is a thin filed balance sheet with no tangible worth, outstanding county court judgments, or a very new limited company with no director asset behind it. Private-sale purchases need a bit more work — the funder wants a clean invoice from a VAT-registered seller and proof of title.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Typically a bench joinery or shopfitting business with three to fifteen people that has outgrown a small contractor saw and is losing time squaring sheet goods by hand. The trigger is usually a run of kitchen or wardrobe work, a new hand starting, or the existing saw losing accuracy on the slide. Sole traders moving out of a domestic garage into a unit buy these too, often alongside the first three-phase supply.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Yes. Altendorf is one of the strongest names for resale in the whole sector, and funders will look at machines well into their teens, particularly the F45. A dealer invoice with a service and refurbishment note makes it straightforward. A private sale is still workable but expect the funder to ask for an inspection and evidence that the seller owns the machine outright.
Most shops take hire purchase because they want to own the saw at the end and claim the capital allowances on it. A finance lease suits businesses that would rather keep the asset off the balance sheet and spread the VAT across the rentals instead of paying it at the start. We quote both so you can put the numbers in front of your accountant.
Not necessarily. Nil deposit structures are achievable on a well-established limited company buying a mainstream make, because the funder is comfortable with what the machine is worth if things go wrong. Younger businesses or private-sale purchases are more likely to need a contribution. On hire purchase the VAT is usually payable up front, which people forget to plan for.
Usually yes, if it is on the same invoice as the machine. Saw blades, scoring sets, a digital fence upgrade or a set of clamps can be included as part of the overall package. What funders do not like is a separate consumables invoice appearing after the agreement has been paid out, because blades on their own are a soft asset with no resale value.
Delivery, rigging, commissioning and operator training are normally included where the dealer puts them on the invoice. Electrical work carried out by your own contractor is harder, because it is a payment to a third party for a service rather than an asset. If it is a meaningful cost, tell us early and we will structure it rather than leave you to find it in cash.
