Tenoning and mortising equipment is what makes framed joinery repeatable, and heavy tenoners remain in demand long after the manufacturer stopped building them.

Yes. Tenoners and mortisers are funded as hard assets on hire purchase or lease. Heavy single-end and double-end tenoners fund well because the market for them has never really gone away, and older industrial machines are still placed regularly. CNC tenoning and door-and-window centres are funded like any CNC, where the control generation matters more than the age. The one thing to be aware of is ticket size at the lower end: a bench chisel mortiser on its own is usually too small for an agreement and is better bought within a larger workshop package.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
These machines fall into two quite different files. Mechanical tenoners and chain mortisers are heavy cast-iron plant with a stable used market, and underwriters are relaxed about them regardless of age because demand from framed-joinery shops is constant. CNC tenoning and window centres are assessed like a machining centre, with the control and software support driving the residual view and larger tickets triggering full underwriting on accounts. A bench mortiser is effectively a hand tool to a funder and will not carry an agreement alone. The practical advice is to present the whole framed joinery cell together where possible, because a tenoner alongside a moulder and a saw gives an underwriter something substantial to lend against rather than a single specialist machine.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Door, window, gate and conservatory manufacturers, and staircase shops cutting mortise and tenon joints in volume. The trigger is repeatability — a contract for a batch of framed doors where hand-cut joints cannot be produced consistently or quickly enough. Heritage and conservation joiners buy heavy tenoners because the traditional joint is specified, not optional, and a router will not produce it properly.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Usually not, because it falls below the minimum agreement size most funders will write. It is not a reflection on the machine. Buy it on the same invoice as a moulder, a tenoner or a saw and it funds as part of the package without anyone querying it. An unsecured business facility is the alternative if you need it in isolation.
Yes. A mechanical tenoner is valued on its castings and its demand, which barely changes with age. A CNC window centre is valued on whether it can still be programmed and supported, so control generation drives the decision and larger tickets go to full underwriting on your accounts. Both are fundable, the underwriting questions are just different.
Yes, and it usually gets a better outcome. Presenting a tenoner, moulder, saw and extraction as one project gives a funder a coherent proposal and one set of security rather than a scattering of small applications. It also means a single monthly commitment you can build into your job pricing.
Generally yes. British industrial tenoners are still working in shops across the country and they still change hands, which is what a funder cares about. They will want a proper invoice, confirmation of clear title and photographs of the machine and serial plate. A rebuilt machine with current guarding is a straightforward case.
Tenon blocks, scribing heads and cutterblocks supplied with the machine can normally be included because they are durable tooling with their own value. Loose knives, chisels and augers bought in quantity are consumables and will be excluded. If the tooling package is substantial, tell us at the quote stage so it can be structured rather than stripped out.
