A rough monthly figure for a machine, before you speak to anyone.

Use the calculator below for an indicative monthly cost on a machine. It is a guide rather than a quote — the rate you are actually offered depends on the machine, the term, any deposit and your trading position. What follows explains what moves that number, so the figure you take to a supplier is a realistic one.
Longest terms and sharpest rates.
Shorter term, still very fundable.
Own it at the end, claim the allowances.
Where ownership is not the priority.
Raise cash against machines you own.
Machine, install and ancillaries together.
The machine itself. Lenders price against what they could recover. A machine tool from a recognised maker with a supported control holds value and prices accordingly; something specialised with a thin second-hand market does not. This is why two businesses with identical accounts get different rates on different machines.
New or used. Used machinery is entirely fundable and often the better purchase, but the term available is usually shorter and the rate a little higher, because the asset has less life left to secure against.
The term. Longer terms reduce the monthly payment and increase the total paid. The sensible test is not the lowest monthly figure but whether the term matches how long the machine will earn — funding a twenty-year machine over three years strains cash flow for no good reason, and funding a fast-obsolescing one over seven leaves you paying for something you have replaced.
Deposit and trading position. A deposit reduces the lender’s exposure and usually the rate with it. Filed accounts, time trading and the sector all feed in. A new business is not excluded — it is priced differently. We have written separately on what determines the rate on business asset finance if you want the longer version.
The calculator assumes a representative rate across the whole market. In practice the spread between the best and worst offer on the same machine can be considerable, which is the entire argument for going to a broker rather than taking the finance offered at the point of sale. The dealer’s finance is one lender’s product; we search sixty.
Remember too that the calculator prices the machine, not the project. Installation, tooling, software and extraction are often quoted separately and are not always fundable — the machinery finance page explains how that is handled, and it is worth reading before you place an order.
The same applies to farm kit — a farm machinery finance calculator works on exactly these variables, and the seasonal repayment structures common in agricultural machinery finance change the monthly figure more than the rate does.
Once you have a figure you are comfortable with, send the supplier quotation and we will tell you what it actually funds at. Try the CNC and machine tool or woodworking machinery pages for sector detail. No credit check to ask.
One quick conversation about the asset and how the repayments need to work.
As an independent broker we find the right structure and rate — not one lender’s products.

Hire Purchase illustration at a representative 8.9% APR — a quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a representative 8.9% APR, you would repay around £617 a month; total amount repayable approximately £29,610. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances.
