Yes. A bridge saw is a hard asset and funds on hire purchase, with the saw standing as its own security. Used saws are fundable and hold value reasonably because the structure is heavy steel and the market for stone machinery in the UK is active. The point that catches fabricators out is water. A saw needs a slurry management system, a settling pit or filtration plant and a solid slab beneath it, and those items are building works rather than machinery, so they sit outside the finance agreement.
Used kit: Yes — used bridge saws fund well and machines ten to twelve years old are common, with spindle condition and bridge wear the things that matter.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Stone machinery is respected as hard security. A bridge saw is heavy, serialised, slow to depreciate and traded actively through UK and Italian dealers, so an underwriter can see a recovery route. What is not funded: diamond blades, segments and tooling, which are consumables with a defined wear life. Nor is the slab, the drainage, the water recycling plant or the three phase supply upgrade, all of which are installation. Once a saw is bolted to a reinforced base with plumbed services it looks like a fixture, so a leased unit often brings a landlord waiver into the process. Declines are most often about new entrants to worktop fabrication with no trading history and a full workshop to fund at once.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Usually a worktop fabricator outgrowing a manual saw because quartz and porcelain volumes have grown and template accuracy is costing remakes. Also stone yards moving from subcontracted cutting to in-house production after lead times from the cutting house slipped, and monumental masons adding a tilting saw to handle memorial work and kerb sets themselves.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Usually not, or only in part. A settling pit dug into the floor is construction, and pipework run under the slab is a building cost. A free-standing packaged filtration unit with its own value can sometimes be included. Send the whole quotation so we can split it properly.
No. Blades and segments are consumables with a measurable wear rate, so they cannot be taken as security. Where a supplier includes a starter blade in the machine price it is absorbed into the invoice, but ongoing tooling is a running cost.
Very often, yes. These machines are heavy and need a level, reinforced slab with drainage, and that work has to be done before delivery. It is a building cost outside the finance, and it is the single most common reason a stone installation slips.
It is harder but not impossible. Underwriters want to see the directors have real fabrication experience and that there is committed work, usually from kitchen retailers or builders. Expect a personal guarantee. Funding the saw alone rather than a complete workshop gives a new business a better chance.
Perfectly normal in the stone trade. Because a bolted-down saw with plumbed services can be argued to have become part of the premises, a funder may ask the landlord to sign a waiver confirming the machine remains theirs. Raise it with the landlord early and it seldom delays anything.
