An extrusion line is a hard asset: the extruder, calibration tank, haul-off, cutter and winder all carry their own value and a funder will write them on a single agreement. Used lines are fundable. The catch is the die and downstream tooling, which are profile-specific and have no value to another processor, so they are soft costs. Also plan for the commissioning period, because a line only becomes productive once it is running to tolerance.

Funders look at an extrusion line as several hard assets in a row. The extruder itself is the strongest element, with a solid international resale market for the recognised European makes, while downstream haul-offs and winders carry less individually but add up. Dies, calibrators and profile tooling are soft: bespoke, single-product and effectively unsaleable. Long lines are bolted down with fixed water, vacuum, power and often a cooling tower outside, so the fixtures question is live and a landlord waiver is common on leased sites. Commissioning and process support are services and sit outside the agreement. Declines tend to involve part-built lines assembled from several sources with no single supplier taking responsibility.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.

Only sometimes, and rarely in full. A die cut for one profile is worthless to another processor, which makes it a soft cost. Where the tooling is a modest part of a strong overall deal a funder may carry it, but never assume it. Price it separately.
The seller or an engineer measures it and reports it, and that report matters more to an underwriter than the machine age. A rebuilt or re-nitrided screw with a recent measurement can make a fifteen year old extruder a perfectly sound asset.
No. Engineer time, trials and material used in proving the line are services and consumables. Funders cannot recover them. Allow for a commissioning period in your cash flow, because payments usually start once the line is delivered and accepted, not once it is running to spec.
That is a common and perfectly fundable structure. One agreement can cover both, with the funder paying the dealer for the used extruder and the manufacturer for the new downstream. Just make sure the delivery timings line up so the line is accepted as a whole.
