Golf buggy fleet finance
A buggy fleet is one of the few pieces of course equipment that earns revenue directly, which changes how funders look at it.

Can you finance a golf buggy fleet?
Yes, and buggy fleets are among the most commonly funded assets in UK golf. They are usually written as a fleet on one agreement rather than unit by unit, and used or ex-fleet buggies are readily fundable — a large share of the market is refurbished stock. The detail that catches clubs out is batteries. On an older electric fleet the battery condition is most of the value, and a set nearing the end of its life can turn a bargain into a liability. Establish battery age before you commit.
Used kit: Yes — used and refurbished ex-fleet buggies fund routinely, with battery age and condition mattering far more to a funder than the model year.

What would a golf buggy fleet cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. How lenders treat it
Buggies are unusual in the golf context because they generate income directly, and a funder shown a hire income history reads the application quite differently from one for a mower. Values are well established, the manufacturers are global, and there is an entire refurbishment trade that keeps second-hand demand strong, so security is solid and advances are comfortable. Seasonality is pronounced — hire income collapses in winter — and repayments can be shaped to follow the playing season rather than running flat, which is one of the most requested structures we arrange. Manufacturer-backed schemes exist and are worth comparing against independent funding rather than accepting by default. Underwriters will ask about storage, charging arrangements and insurance, because fleets are stolen and fire risk around charging is a live insurance question. Declines usually reflect a club already carrying heavy commitments rather than any doubt about the buggies.

Who buys one
Clubs whose ageing fleet is spending more time on charge than on the course, and venues where buggy hire income has become a visible line in the accounts. Also courses on steep or spread-out ground where buggy availability affects who can play, and resorts and proprietary venues refreshing a fleet to match the standard guests expect. Fleet changes are usually timed for the end of winter so the new buggies are ready for the season.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Golf buggy fleet finance questions
How should we check batteries on a used fleet?
Ask for the battery installation date, not the buggy year, and get it in writing on the invoice. A refurbished fleet with new batteries is a different proposition from one with four-year-old cells. This single question decides whether a used fleet is a good buy.
Can repayments follow the playing season?
Yes, and on buggies it is the norm rather than the exception. Payments can be weighted towards the months when hire income is actually coming in, with a lighter winter profile. We agree the shape with the funder before documents are drawn, so tell us what your season looks like.
Is the manufacturer scheme better than independent finance?
Sometimes, and it is always worth comparing rather than assuming. Manufacturer schemes can be competitive but they tie you to one marque and one structure. We will look at your quote alongside independent options and tell you plainly if theirs is the better deal. There is no point arranging finance that is worse than what you hold.
Can charging infrastructure be included?
Chargers supplied with the fleet can be. Fixed electrical installation work, new supply capacity and building alterations are site works and generally fall outside the equipment agreement. If the project involves significant electrical work, tell us early so we can structure it properly. Electrical contractors should quote that element apart from the buggy supplier.
Will the funder ask about storage and insurance?
Yes. Fleets are a theft target and charging areas are an insurance concern, so expect questions about where buggies are kept, how the area is secured and what your policy covers. Straight answers speed the application up rather than slowing it down. Insurers ask much the same questions, so the answers are usually to hand.
