Can you finance a golf simulator?
Partly, and knowing which part is the whole job. The hardware — launch monitor, projector, enclosure, hitting mat — is a fundable asset with a serial number and a resale market. The building work around it, the screed, the lighting and the software licence generally are not, because a lender cannot repossess a room. Deals are usually structured so the fundable kit carries the agreement and the fit-out is paid separately, which is why a single all-in quote from an installer often gets declined when the same project, split correctly, goes through.
Used kit: Rarely — new preferred, though refinance of owned kit is common

What would a golf simulator cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
How lenders treat it
A simulator bay is two different things bolted together, and only one of them is fundable. The fit-out — bay, joinery, screen surround, flooring, lighting — has real cost and almost no resale value, because it cannot be removed and sold on. Lenders will not fund it. The launch monitor is the opposite: discrete, serial-numbered, high value, with an established second-hand market. Knowing which half you are asking about before you apply saves a wasted week, and it is also what makes a refinance possible after the room is built.

Who buys one
Indoor golf venues, driving ranges, clubs adding a winter offer, and coaching businesses. Frequently the purchase follows a fit-out that has already absorbed a large amount of the business's cash.

£48,000
A commercial TrackMan refinanced for a leisure venue, releasing capital from equipment they already owned.
Read the case study →How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Golf simulator finance questions
Can I finance a whole simulator room?
Not usually as one agreement. The launch monitor and simulator equipment are fundable; the fit-out around them generally is not, because it has no resale value. Businesses often fund the equipment and pay for the building work separately.
Can I refinance a simulator I already own?
Yes, provided it is owned outright and identifiable by serial number. An asset refinance releases capital tied up in equipment you keep using — see the funded example below.
Is a golf simulator a regulated agreement?
It depends on who is borrowing, not what is being bought. A limited company sits outside the Consumer Credit Act; a sole trader or a partnership of three or fewer is treated as an individual and the agreement is regulated unless it is for business purposes and over £25,000.
How does a lender think about simulator technology dating?
It is the main thing they weigh. Simulator technology dates faster than the hardware wears out, which is why terms are shorter than on a tractor or a sawmill.
