Overseeder finance
Disc and dimple seeders put seed into the ground rather than on it, and the tractor-mounted machines fund as solid renovation plant.

Can you finance an overseeder?
Yes. Overseeders fund as hard assets on hire purchase or lease. Tractor-mounted disc seeders such as the Vredo and Redexim ranges are substantial machines with a recognised used market among contractors and councils, so funders are comfortable with them. Second-hand units place well. What catches buyers out is working width against available tractor power and the gateways on their own site — a wide seeder that cannot get between two bunkers or through a service gate is a machine you will grow to resent, and no finance structure fixes that.
Used kit: Yes — used overseeders fund readily, commonly to around ten years old, since discs, coulters and seed units are all replaceable.

What would an overseeder cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. How lenders treat it
An overseeder is a once-or-twice-a-year machine that costs real money, and funders read that combination carefully. The asset side is fine: heavy frames, established marques, and a used market driven by contractors who buy each other’s renovation kit. The credit side turns on whether the machine has enough work behind it. Contractors carrying a book of annual pitch renovations across schools, clubs and councils are a comfortable risk, and repayments can be loaded into the close-season months when the invoices land. A contractor buying speculatively ahead of a tender result is not, and that is the most frequent decline on this asset. Clubs are assessed on the strength of the subscription book and how many other agreements are already running. A machine bought jointly by two clubs needs the agreement to name one legal entity, which is worth sorting out early.

Who buys one
Greens and pitch managers trying to shift sward composition away from annual meadow grass, usually working to a multi-year seeding plan rather than a one-off. Also renovation contractors seeding school and council pitches every close season, and racecourse and stadium teams rebuilding worn areas between fixtures. Schools and colleges with heavily used winter pitches buy the same machines for the same reason.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Overseeder finance questions
Will a wide seeder fit our course?
Measure the gateways and the tightest approach before you order. Working width is the specification people regret most often. A machine that has to be manoeuvred round half the site loses the productivity you bought it for, and that is a purchasing decision the finance cannot correct.
Can two clubs buy one machine between them?
Yes, but the agreement has to name one legal entity as the customer. Informal sharing arrangements between clubs are common and perfectly workable, but decide up front who owns it, who insures it and who pays, then put that in writing before applying. Informal sharing falls apart badly when nobody wrote anything down.
Is the seed included?
No. Seed is a consumable and cannot be funded on an asset agreement, however large the order. Only the machine and its supplied equipment are fundable. Clubs usually budget seed from the maintenance line and finance the machine that applies it. Seed cost varies far too much year to year to sit inside a fixed agreement.
We are a contractor waiting on a tender result. Should we apply now?
Talk to us now, but a funder will want more than an expectation of winning. If the tender is decided within weeks it may be worth waiting. Buying on the assumption of work you have not been awarded is the most common reason these applications are declined.
Can we fund a seeder with a scarifier and a blower together?
Yes, and that is the sensible approach for a renovation package. One agreement, one application, one set of documents, and the total value usually opens up funders who would not look at the individual items on their own. It is how most renovation packages we arrange are structured.
