Triple mower finance
The three-unit ride-on that cuts greens, tees and approaches is the workhorse most clubs replace first, and it funds cleanly as a hard asset.

Can you finance a triple mower?
Yes. Triple ride-on mowers are funded on hire purchase or lease as hard assets, and they are among the most frequently placed machines in UK golf. Used triples fund well — the market for a known Toro, John Deere or Jacobsen triple is active enough that a funder can price it confidently. The usual snag is specification drift. Clubs order a base machine, then add groomers, brushes, different cutting units and a rollers package, and if those arrive on a second invoice weeks later they fall outside the agreement. Used kit: Yes — second-hand triples are routinely funded, typically up to about eight to ten years old with a credible service record.

What would a triple mower cost per month?
Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
How lenders treat it
A triple is a funder’s comfort asset. Values are well evidenced, the machines are serial-numbered and easy to identify, and there is an established dealer network that will take them back in part exchange, so recovery is realistic rather than theoretical. Underwriting then turns on who is paying. A members’ club with a stable subscription book and a healthy waiting list is a strong proposition even on thin profits, because the income is contracted and recurring. A proprietary course lives on green fees and weather, so the funder reads the management accounts more closely and looks at how the last two poor summers were absorbed. Repayments can be weighted into the playing months. Declines cluster around clubs already behind on existing agreements.

Who buys one
A course where one machine is doing greens in the morning and tees and approaches in the afternoon, and the cutting quality is starting to show the workload. The decision is usually driven by the head greenkeeper after a winter of downtime, and it often coincides with a course improvement plan going to the members. Pay-and-play operators and driving ranges with short-game areas buy the same machine for the same reasons.

How it is treated for tax
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Triple mower finance questions
Should we buy two triples or one triple and a set of pedestrians?
That is an agronomy decision rather than a finance one, but both routes fund. Two machines can go on one agreement, and a mixed order of a triple plus pedestrian units is common. Bringing it to us as a single package usually works out simpler than running separate applications for each item.
Can we finance a demo machine the dealer has been running?
Yes, and it is a popular route. Ex-demo triples have low hours, a full dealer service record and usually some warranty left, which underwriters like. The funder treats it as a used machine so the invoice must show it as such, but the documentation quality generally makes these straightforward to place.
Will the funder want the machine registered or marked?
There is no DVLA registration for a triple, so the funder relies on the serial number recorded on the agreement. Some ask you to confirm where the machine is kept and that it is insured. Keep the serial plate readable — a machine that cannot be identified is a problem at settlement or part exchange.
We have an existing agreement on the old triple. Can it be settled?
Usually yes. We obtain the settlement figure, compare it to what the dealer is offering in part exchange, and if there is a shortfall it can often be absorbed into the new agreement. It is worth doing this calculation before you commit to the trade-in price.
How long does approval take?
For a straightforward club purchase, often the same working day once we have the accounts and the quote. Unincorporated clubs needing committee sign-off take longer at your end than ours. Irrigation-scale projects and multi-machine packages take a little more underwriting time. Send us the accounts early and the rest moves quickly.
