A motorhome is a vehicle and a home at once, and lenders treat it as neither quite comfortably. We arrange motorhome finance and campervan finance on hire purchase for private buyers across the UK — coachbuilt, A-class, panel van conversion or self-build — through lenders with genuine appetite for the leisure market.
The mainstream of the market.
Higher value, smaller lender pool.
Factory and professional converters.
Registered motor caravans, new and used.
Considered, with the right paperwork.
Where a conversion follows later.
Motorhome finance is normally motorhome hire purchase secured on the vehicle, over terms that are longer than you would get on a car because motorhomes hold their value and cover comparatively low mileage. That combination is what makes the monthly figure on a substantial motorhome more manageable than the purchase price suggests.
Lenders look at the base vehicle and the conversion separately in all but name. A well-known converter on a mainstream chassis is the easiest case. Rarer imports, very high-value A-class models and unusual layouts narrow the lender pool without ruling anything out.
Used motorhomes are financed routinely. As with caravans, the binding constraint is age at the end of the agreement rather than at the start — which is why a ten-year-old motorhome may fund over a shorter term than its price alone would imply. Habitation check and service history both help.
Campervan finance covers factory conversions and professionally converted panel vans. The distinction that matters to a lender is whether the vehicle is registered as a motor caravan and who did the conversion. A recognised converter with documentation is straightforward; a part-finished or undocumented conversion is harder, because the lender is being asked to secure against something difficult to value.
Funding a conversion project is the awkward case, because at the point you need the money the vehicle is a panel van rather than a campervan. It is usually more workable to fund the base vehicle on its own merits and treat the conversion separately. Tell us what you are planning and we will be straight with you about what is achievable.

Send us the make, model, year, mileage and price, whether it is a dealer or private sale, and what deposit you have. If it is a conversion, tell us who did it and whether it is registered as a motor caravan. We will tell you which lenders will look at it. No credit check to ask.
