Compact vans for mobile engineers, couriers and anyone who needs to park in a city — funded without being told the deal is too small to bother with.

Yes, small and car-derived vans such as a Transit Courier, Caddy or Combo are fundable, usually on hire purchase in the business name. The catch is not credit, it is size: a modest used small van can sit below some funders minimum advance, so the options that advertise loudly for van business will simply not quote. A broker matters here because the lenders who genuinely want smaller agreements are not the same ones chasing fleet work. Used stock is fine, though lenders watch how old the van will be when the final payment falls due.
Used kit: Yes. Used small vans are funded regularly, though because they start from a lower value lenders are stricter about how old the vehicle can be and will look closely at service history.

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
These are small-ticket agreements, and that changes who will look at them. Several mainstream asset funders set a floor on advance size and will pass regardless of how good the customer is, so placement is about knowing which lenders actively write this end of the market. Resale is decent — compact vans sell readily — but the absolute value is low, which means a funder recovers less if things go wrong and therefore leans more on the applicant. Sole traders and new starts are common here and are perfectly placeable with a deposit. Declines usually come from a very thin credit file with no deposit, or a van old enough that it is close to worthless by the end of the term.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Mobile locksmiths, domestic gas engineers, sandwich rounds, pet care and courier subcontractors working city routes where a full-size van is a liability on parking and fuel. Often a first business vehicle bought by somebody who has just gone self-employed, or a second run-around added alongside a bigger van so the owner stops using the Transit for small jobs. The trigger is frequently a new contract that specifies a vehicle rather than a car.

We publish the deals we arrange, with no client named and no rate quoted. See what we have funded in vans and fleet.
Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Not with the right lender, but it is a real obstacle with the wrong one. Some funders have a minimum they will advance and will decline purely on size. We place smaller agreements with lenders who want that business rather than wasting your credit file on a lender who never had appetite.
Vans are funded for business use, so the agreement is normally in your trading name as a sole trader or in the company name. If the vehicle is genuinely for personal use, that is a different product and different rules apply. Tell us the real use and we will point you the right way.
Not always, but on lower-value agreements a deposit noticeably improves the odds, especially for a new business. It reduces the lender exposure and shows commitment, which matters more when there is less value in the vehicle to fall back on. We will tell you honestly whether putting something in will change the answer before you apply rather than after a decline.
Often yes. New starts are common at this end of the market. Lenders will want to see who is behind the business, a clean personal profile, and ideally a contract or evidence of where the work is coming from. A deposit helps a great deal.
That is normal. Many customers start compact and move up within a couple of years. If the agreement is hire purchase, you can settle it and part-exchange, or in some cases we can restructure around the new vehicle. Tell us the plan early and we will pick a structure that does not trap you.
