Funding for tractor-mounted post drivers, rock spikes and fencing rigs used by farms doing their own work and by fencing contractors.

Yes. Post drivers are simple, tough, and sell readily to farms, contractors, forestry and utilities, so funders regard them as good security despite the modest value. Hire purchase is the normal route. Used machines are funded without difficulty because there is very little to go wrong beyond the hydraulics and the mast. The practical issue is size of deal rather than the asset: a single mounted driver can fall below where some funders start, so it is often bought with the tractor or teleporter it mounts on, or with the rock spike and wire equipment on the same invoice.
Used kit: Yes, and older drivers remain fundable where the mast and hydraulics are sound

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. CW Asset Finance is an Appointed Representative of Rural Finance Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 630701).
Fencing equipment is a straightforward mobile hard asset with an unusually wide resale market, because demand does not stop at the farm gate; groundscare businesses, forestry outfits and civils contractors all buy them. That breadth makes funders comfortable. They will look at the mast, the hydraulic ram and the condition of the weight or top link mounting, but there is little else to assess. Contractors are underwritten on their book of work and how promptly customers pay, which in fencing can be slow. The limitation is that values are low, so the practical route is usually bundling the driver with the carrier machine or with other kit. Level repayments are standard, though contractors with seasonal work can ask for shaping.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Livestock farms replacing fencing at scale after years of patching, estates fencing woodland and shoot ground, and fencing contractors working for farms, highways and utilities. The trigger is usually a stock-proofing requirement under an environmental or assurance scheme, a fencing bill that has made owning look cheaper than hiring a contractor, or a contractor replacing a driver that is losing performance.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
On its own it can be marginal. The common approach is to buy it with the tractor or handler that will carry it, or alongside the rock spike and ancillary equipment, so the invoice reaches a value more funders will write. Contractor-specification rigs usually have enough value on their own.
Yes. Contractors are assessed on the spread of customers and the payment record behind them. Fencing work for utilities, highways and estates tends to pay more reliably than word-of-mouth farm work, and a mix of both is viewed as a stronger position than dependence on one large client.
The mast slides, the hydraulic ram and seals, and the mounting where it takes the shock load. Most other components are heavy steel that lasts. A used machine with a serviceable ram and a straight mast is a comfortable proposition for a funder regardless of its age.
No. Posts, wire and netting are consumables rather than assets, and asset finance covers equipment that has a resale value. Materials are a working capital cost. If cash flow around a big fencing job is the issue, that is a different conversation about funding the business rather than the machine.
It affects the questions asked more than the decision. Mounted attachments are commonly stolen from yards, so funders like to see machines security marked and stored under cover. Insurers increasingly ask the same, and a marked machine is easier to recover and therefore to insure.
