Funding for slurry storage, from bolted steel ring tanks and covers through to the mixers, pumps and separators that make a store workable.

Yes for a bolted tank, much less so for a lagoon. A steel ring tank is assembled from panels on a prepared base, which means it can be dismantled and re-erected, so funders can treat it as equipment and lend against it in the normal way. An earth-banked lagoon is excavation: it is part of the land, nothing can be recovered, and it needs borrowing secured on the farm instead. Mixers, pumps, separators and covers fund cleanly either way. Check any grant conditions before signing, because some schemes require outright ownership at the point of claim.
Used kit: Yes for bolted steel tanks and equipment; lagoons have no second-hand market at all

Business asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what this shows — with the equivalent APR underneath, because the two are not the same number. A quick guide only; your actual rate depends on the asset, term, deposit and lender.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 6.0% flat rate (equivalent to 11.5% APR representative), you would repay around £646 a month; total amount repayable approximately £31,000, of which £6,000 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Slurry storage divides sharply. A bolted steel tank is one of the better fixture-adjacent assets in farming: it is demountable, there is a secondhand trade in tanks, and a funder has a visible route to value, so hire purchase works. A lagoon or an in-ground store has none of that and leans entirely on the farm and on land ownership, which makes it hard for a tenant on a short agreement. The ancillary equipment, mixers, pumps, separators and covers, is proper machinery and funds easily. Underwriters will also want to see that the design meets the construction standards for slurry storage and that any notification has been made, since a store that fails an inspection is a liability rather than an asset.
Examples of the machines we are asked to fund. This is not an exhaustive list — if what you are buying is not here, it does not mean we cannot fund it. Your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.

Dairy and beef units required to increase storage capacity to cover closed periods, farms that have expanded cow numbers without expanding the store, and units replacing a store that is leaking or no longer safe to mix. The trigger is usually a regulatory requirement on storage months, a pollution incident or near miss, or an expansion that has made the existing capacity unworkable.

Bought on hire purchase, business plant and machinery normally qualifies for capital allowances on the full cost even though you pay for it monthly, which is a large part of why hire purchase is the common structure. On a finance lease you generally set the rentals against profit instead. The rules change between budgets and your position depends on how you trade, so treat this as the direction of travel and get your accountant to confirm the detail before you commit.
Because it comes apart. A bolted ring tank is assembled from panels on a base and can be dismantled and re-erected elsewhere, which gives a funder a recovery route. An excavated lagoon is simply a hole in the ground with a liner, and there is nothing in it to take back.
It might, so check first. Several agricultural grant schemes require the item to be owned outright when the claim is submitted, and hire purchase does not meet that test. Where that applies, finance may still fit the parts of the project outside the grant, but never sign before confirming.
Yes, and separators are increasingly part of the same investment because separating solids reduces the volume that has to be stored. It is straightforward equipment with an identifiable resale value, so it funds easily, either with the tank or on its own later.
Yes. Slurry storage is regulated on how it is built and there are notification requirements before construction or substantial alteration. Funders expect this to be handled and will not want to release money against a store that has not been designed to the required standard.
Yes. Covers are a defined, removable item with a clear purpose in reducing the rainfall going into the store, so they are a comfortable standalone deal where the value is sufficient. Buying a cover alongside a mixer or pump makes a more attractive package if it is marginal.
