We sponsor York Auction Centre
York Auction Centre at Murton is operated by Stephensons Rural, and it is the one mart of the three we sponsor that the Livestock Auctioneers’ Association classifies as running agricultural machinery sales — one of just thirty of its hundred-and-three marts that do.

Why this farming shapes the finance
That matters practically, because buying machinery at auction is not the same as buying it from a dealer. There is no demonstration, usually no warranty, and payment is due on a deadline the auctioneer sets rather than one you negotiate. A lender who has never written an auction purchase will ask for an invoice that does not exist yet.
The answer is to have the funding arranged before the sale rather than after it, so you know what you can bid to and the money is ready when the hammer falls. We have written that up properly on our auction finance page, which also carries a directory of every machinery auctioneer and livestock mart in the UK.
York is a livestock centre as well, so the same site serves the mixed farms east of the city with store and breeding stock sales. The finance questions are different for each: a machinery lot is an identifiable, serial-numbered asset a lender can secure against, and livestock is not.

We are an independent broker based in Tadcaster with access to a panel of more than sixty lenders, including the agricultural funders who understand seasonal income and the ones who will write a private sale. No rate is quoted on this page: it depends on the asset, the business and the lender, and a figure published here would be a figure somebody expects to be offered.
We sponsor this mart. It does not recommend us and we are not connected to it beyond the sponsorship. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender. All finance is subject to status and lender approval.
Work out what an asset would cost you
Asset finance is quoted on a flat rate, so that is what the buttons show, with the equivalent APR beside it. Your exact rate depends on the asset, the term, the deposit and the lender.
Prime is an established, profitable business with clean credit. Specialist covers newer businesses and credit that needs explaining — the asset itself carries part of the risk, which is why finance is often available where an unsecured loan is not.
Representative example: on Hire Purchase, borrowing £25,000 over 48 months at a 5.15% flat rate (equivalent to 9.9% APR representative), you would repay around £628 a month; total amount repayable approximately £30,150, of which £5,150 is the cost of finance. This calculator is for illustration only — it is not a quote or an offer of finance, and the rate and repayments you are offered will depend on the asset, term, deposit and your circumstances. CW Asset Finance is a credit broker, not a lender, and will receive a commission from the lender that funds your agreement. All finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval.
Rates shown are indicative flat rates with the equivalent APR alongside — the two are not the same number. Indicative only and does not constitute a quote or an offer of finance. Subject to status and lender approval.

Specialist agricultural funding
Machinery, livestock and land — each with its own page, because each is assessed differently.
By matching the repayment profile to when the money actually arrives. Farm income tends to land in spikes — post-harvest and subsidy payments — rather than evenly across the year, so a flat monthly Hire Purchase agreement can strain cash flow in the off-months. CW Asset Finance structures seasonal HP agreements with reduced payments through winter and larger payments timed to harvest income, so you get the machinery without tying up working capital reserved for fertiliser, diesel and wages.
Machines we fund
430 machines named across 43 types of Agricultural & farm machinery. This is not a restricted list — it is what we are asked for most often. If the machine you are buying is not here it almost certainly still funds: your supplier quote is what the agreement is written against.
